Hey y'all.
With everything happening in the Middle East, I have been in a terrible mindset. I have family who has made Aliyah and haven't heard from them since October 8. So I'm worrying, and I'm spiraling. Plus I've been overly cautious in case I encounter any anti-Semitism while I'm out and about.
This is all to say: I have been coping by writing with one of my Jewish characters, and don't know when, or if, I'll be emotionally able to finish Darkbloom. I got almost done with chapter 16 and then I just...couldn't finish it.
I'm really sorry for leaving everyone hanging!! But there's too much emotionally tied to Darkbloom at the moment (I was actively writing it when a cousin gave us an update). If I ever feel comfortable sharing my little Jewish baby, I will. I want to finish Darkbloom, it just may be much longer than I thought it would be.
Super duper quick:
Sorry about no update this week, I spent most of yesterday and all of today driving 17hrs with my father to move me into my dorm. Chapter 18 is like...a little under halfway done? As I'll be moving in tomorrow and having to spend time with my dad before I bring him to the airport, I don't see it being completed before next Sat (August 27th). Please bear with me, I didn't forget about Ezollen and Pili, we're gonna have some soft scenes of them in chapter 18...I'm just busy with life. Trust me, I've been itching to write the rest of ch18 since Tuesday (I was working most of this week) but I hadn't had the time/refuse to let anyone else drive my car.
I'm not sure how many people are even aware this page exists, but I wanted to let y'all know that I've got a genetic optic nerve affliction and it's been getting harder to focus on text on my laptop screen. I love writing and I won't stop until I'm dead, but to keep the strain from getting too bad I'll have to take more frequent breaks while writing each chapter, meaning I may not be able to post a chapter a week. I know I have about three weeks buffer (which I have been using to fill in the general plot and for worldbuilding), and I will continue to try and keep to a good writing schedule. I really hope I just need a new prescription and it hasn't progressed further, but I won't know until mid to late July. In the meantime (between now and my appointments) I will continue to update as frequently as I can, and I do ask for y'all's patience and understanding if chapters are late!
