Update: I've entered a story in the first Tapas novel contest. Here is the link: https://tapas.io/episode/1030848

The title is "Against Heaven and Hell." It is a prequel to the vampire series mentioned below and features one of its villains. Please check it out. It is my debut on Tapastia. Looking forward to feedback!

I'm a published writer of short stories, articles, and poems, and I've won awards for fiction and journalism, but my biggest love is novels. I'm always working on one or more of them but have not yet had one in print. I'm writing "AVS: The Anti-Vampirism Society," a YA series with twists that I hope you will find unique and exciting. I have some spin-off stories involving some of its characters, some which are available to read online and one which won two contests (check my Goodreads page). I continue release others separately from those novels.

I'm pretty good at art, but it's not my main forte.

I am a very good editor and am seeking clients. Am willing to trade my services for cover art and illustrations. Can provide artists sketches and paintings of my characters and ideas. Don't have a lot of money to spend at this time, so I am willing to barter.

I am taking a break from this story. I hope to get back to it sometime, but for now I am concentrating on things that are not so dark.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday and haven't today. I am having a hard time forming what comes next, and distracted by writing something else for another platform. If you are interested in this story, I would appreciate a word of encouragement, because I can't tell from the stats and the lack of response lately that anyone is following it. Thanks, and best to you in all YOUR endeavors!

Hi, all! I had a million things to do today and couldn't possibly get them all finished. Struggling to put together an installment tonight, I am just too exhausted. Will work on it again soon. In the meantime... what would YOU be interested in reading about as Luke's story continues? (Honest, I WILL get to his run-ins with Benedict Arnold; didn't mean to carry his younger years out so long, but it seems necessary as a foundation for things to come, and some people say they enjoy those adventures.)

Dear subscribers and other readers: Now that the Writers Camp contest is coming to a close, I will post an installment to "Against Heaven and Hell" every Wednesday only. I hope you enjoy my last installment of the contest and continue to read the rest!

Hi, subscribers and visitors! This morning I made a couple little changes to "Against Heaven and Hell" to increase its historical accuracy, based on the research I've been doing (you wouldn't believe the number of library books and CDs I've checked out from the library; new nickname: the crazy book lady!). The changes are these: 1) The picture that I called a cartoon of Benedict Arnold is actually an effigy, which makes more sense when you see the whole thing--his image paraded on a wagon pulled by horse and flanked by men on both sides (see the picture below)--and by the way, did I tell you this picture, which I first saw in a college history book, was the seed for this story?; 2) I removed the reference to the Stamp Act in Episode 7 ("Betrayed Again!") because that act had already been repealed in March 1766, 7 months earlier. The colonies were actually faced with what they called the "Deplorable Acts" at the time, while Luke cooked up what might arguably be deplorable acts of his own.

The novel is taking a rather different shape than I intended. I thought it would center on Luke's dealings with Benedict Arnold, but others pointed out the need to show why Luke thinks and acts as he does. So the larger plot now includes, in detail, his years growing up. In a nutshell, this is the plot: Can a young man who found out he's not the most important person in the world find both admiration and revenge?

My novel in the Writers Camp contest now has 8 subscribers (well, more like 7, since I don't think I count). I have sent personal thank-yous to all of them except the profiles that aren't accepting messages yet. There are three of those, and I would just like to take this opportunity to thank those. Remember, every sub is a vote in the contest and the deadline is coming up soon, just 9 days. Thank you to ANIMEFOREVA!, Kadedrap, and Sheldon Jones! I hope you do whatever you need to do to make it possible to establish messaging on your profile; I would love to communicate with you and learn more about you!

Some of you may not know that my first (and currently only) story on Tapas is part of the Writers Camp novel contest, which runs through April 19. Please check out "Against Heaven and Hell" at https://tapas.io/episode/1030848, and, if you like it, please give it your vote by subscribing. The readers' choice prize goes to the entry with the largest number of subscriptions, so it's important. If I win, my work will get the exposure of a Premium publishing contract, not to mention $1,000. I currently only have 7 subscribers, compared to 177 viewers, so I'm feeling discouraged that all my hard work isn't recognized (does this perhaps sound like something my character Luke would say? He's my evil twin, after all.)

The other way to win is if the editors of the site decide the novel is the best. Yes, two winners, both the same prize. As a reader you have no part in deciding the second option, so I ask you if you would be willing to boost my confidence, at least, and vote by subscription before the April 19 deadline.

I thank you, and Luke thanks you!

Oops! I at first called the 6th installment "Third in Line," which is not accurate because Luke has THREE elder brothers, not two. Corrected this morning after a somewhat restorative night of sleep. To those of you who are also in the contest: I want to read your work, and may have made a beginning, but I'm finding myself so busy doing historical research for this one, writing the new parts, and rewriting the ones that were part of the original unpublished novella, I have limited time for anything else at all. Very sorry! Not fair to you!

Sorry this 6th Installment is a little late. I worked hard at lots of things I had to do today, and this is a fresh scene. I wanted it to be quality. Still could use some improvement--description, etc. I will continue to improve things as I go on. Hope you enjoy!

It looks great! I like that demon! Just, the people who only use Tappastic on the phone won´t see your wallposts. Gosh, I sound like a total know-it-all. They only see your Creastions and your profile. Hope it helps.
