We find ourselves needing a manga artist for an exciting, possibly lucrative and popular new venture.
Project Details: Everything at this stage is a work-in-progress (screenplay is completed, and there is a published book), but the setting is mostly at a prestigious co-ed senior high school in Italy in the 1950s, featuring a female protagonist and her interactions with several other students around her age, of different types, backgrounds, etc. - and one very unusual resident who traverses spiritual planes. Would be willing to share full disclosure with interested artists, of course, but the main image being portrayed is that no matter who anyone is, their life has value to those around them, and that people meet for a reason. It's a story of high school, the supernatural, love, romance, danger, and plenty of drama.
This is an unpaid assignment, for the time being, although plans are in place to create a website for the manga, a GoFundMe, various social media platforms, and donation drives on a per-chapter basis. As income is generated, we want to reward the artist with a 75% share of everything earned - this would include future possibilities for anime production, merchandising, etc.
We would appreciate if the manga artist has extensive experience (5 years or more) with high school settings/clothes/backgrounds, and can assist with character designs. As this is black-and-white, we would probably only need color for chapter covers. Any software is welcome, if it is easy for you, and we will endeavor to attain any software that we would need to properly collaborate with you. We would like you available for ongoing Zoom/Discord calls now and then, to meet with us, and discuss story structure. We want your input very much.

Yeah, yeah, we know we're behind and we apologize to EVERYONE. It's been a rough few years, between getting situated in a new house in Cleveland, Ohio, scraping by on freelance jobs, and trying to keep webcomics going strong.
THAT SAID, we want to re-introduce a webcomic you're never going to see on Tapas because it's way too mature. :D It's called "The Depths", and we're re-starting the project again after a few months off, with a brand new artist you are going to absolutely love.
"The Depths" was our first baby, in 2017, and for seven years we've managed to create approximately 135 pages thus far. It tells the tale of a group of South Pacific island-girl sea otters and their erotic and deadly adventures both above and below the deep blue sea.

It's completely re-written and remastered, following an easier scrolling format, and the art is really sensational among the four used. So, definitely give us a look there.

So yeah...where to start?
First off, I'm writing this one (RiffRaff) as Leilani's off to bed early for a therapy appointment tomorrow morning.
Well... we were rock bottom for a bit. I'll admit that. We were sailing along wonderfully and life just happened, and as a rat named Remy once reminded us, the most predictable thing about life is its unpredictability.
We lost a major client to COVID in March last year, pretty much our only source of income, and from there the snowball happened: Had to leave the house we were renting, pack up all our things, find a new place, and we had about 30 days to do it.
Things looked bad.
Moving from a house we'd loved for over 5 years was really tough. But it's amazing how adaptable the human being can be. And so, we started renting again, near Shaker Heights, Ohio, a few miles from downtown Cleveland. We moved in, gathered our funds, and then subsequently borrowed a ton of cash from good friends to put a down payment on the house, which Leilani bought officially in January.
So we're here now. We lost a wonderful cat named Malkie after 18 years last summer, and we now have a beautiful new black kitten (she just turned one) named Shai.
The comics? Yeah, we're still working on those. As neither of us draw very well, of course we still pay people to do it for us. But I'm also learning Blender and getting damned great at it. I hope to be able to model anime girls this summer and possibly get some steady work on commission.
Pretty much all I have right now. We sincerely hope all of you are doing okay, and in some semblance of normal life. We really couldn't get where we are now without incredible acts of kindness.
So please, be kind. Be kind to each other. You don't have to love each other, but you should care enough to see each other succeed, or solve a problem, or lend a helping hand, or even write them a wonderful, inspiring letter.
