The mind of an Oddball

The Challenge?

The Challenge?

Jun 19, 2026

Zirc was scrolling through social media and saw a new bread recipe that he loves to bake, and it sparked a motivation like a challenge of sorts. The harder the recipe, the more motivated he gets. He went ham researching the recipe and looking through how it's made and the cheapest way to bake it, but still kept it delicious, so once he figured it out, he wrote down the recipe and went out to the grocery store.

He was making croissants and knew that it would take at least 12 hours to make the dough, so he went out on a Friday night and planned to bake it on Saturday. One of his friends messaged him to go out which he rejected and because he trusted this friend of his named Goose, he told him his plan which Goose replied “just bring it to my place and we can eat them together. If it sucks you know for sure I'll be honest hahahaha”, Zirc found that as both reassuring and as a challenge as well which further motivated so he said “bet”.

He went to the grocery store and picked up all the goods on the list, but he was missing parchment paper. He gave up cause he took it as a sign not to use them since he didn't like to use them anyway. While in the checkout queue, he met a kid who was playing with a ketchup bottle. The child was using the glass bottle *yes, glass* as an aeroplane, and he thought to himself, “That looks like fun.” * Mind you, this man is a fully grown man who has a job, and he says that using a bottle as an aeroplane looks fun*. While waiting his turn, he noticed that the boy’s mother took the bottle away to pay, which, as usual for a child, he bawled and cried. So Zirc did what anyone “normal” would do and gave the boy a small soft plastic soy sauce bottle, which he enjoyed until he saw his mom's phone.

Once the child opened the phone, he played an episode of a popular children's show, and the sound was loud. Zirc, being Zirc, was also a fan of the show, so he stole a glance and slowly continued to watch with the child, and for the next 3 minutes, they bonded by laughing at the show. The mother saw us and laughed. A normal person would be self-aware and become shy, but NOOO~ not Zirc. He just continued watching the show, and when it was the child's mother's turn to pay, she took away the phone to pay, and the child was disappointed, and oddly enough, so was Zirc *Can you believe this man being disappointed by this?!*. Once they paid, the child waved goodbye to Zirc, and he did the same. He then reached the cashier and she told him that it was nice of him to keep the child company, Zirc was an introvert but oddly enough he is a communicating wiz so proudly he proclaimed that he liked the show so he just wanted to watch plus it was an episode he hasn't seen which the cashier had an odd reaction, Zirc saw that and began to just shut down and just paid for his stuff
