In the distant future, the world’s population is down to a few thousand and divided into two groups: Elites, rich and with superhuman abilities, and Mid-Lifers, poor and without special abilities. The Mid-Lifers have been exiled to an uninhabitable land called the Ashes, and with the rest of the world soon becoming like the Ashes, the Elites plan on moving onto a new world with two ships. Zoë, the only person whose blood is half Elitist and half Mid-Lifer, is the chosen leader of the Mid-Lifers and must do what she can to bring balance to an unfair world.
