Thunder claps, a raging storm brewing in the dark clouds outside my office’s open doors, the threat of a downpour imminent.
I shift in my seat, the notion of ‘the calm before the storm’ heightening my sense of anxiety.“This is the girl the Lions are after?” I ask as I lean back in my chair, looking over the photo in my steady hand, not quite believing what I'm seeing. “I don’t know her. Is she wealthy?”
“Not that we know of” Jason replies, the bags under his eyes clearly indicating how long he’s been researching. I wanted him to get more sleep but I needed someone I could trust to investigate the person Brandon and his crew desperately seemed to want.
I look back down to the photo, the peek of a blue collared uniform at the bottom gives away that it's her student ID photo. Her blue eyes look slightly blurry, as if they were a beach rock pool hit with a small stone. Her dark strawberry blonde hair layered long past the cut off of the camera’s frame. I can’t help but notice her bright smile matches her bright eyes. She’s definitely a looker.
“You say they’re going to grab her tonight?”
I smile slyly, “guess we just have to get her first.”
