We wake with the sun, and sleep with the moon,
Laying heads on soft pillows, bellies filled with food.
We could dream of a tomorrow, filled with laughter and light,
Yet the world that is left for us, isn’t very bright.
We are given a wasteland, presented like a gift,
But this is something, that cannot be fixed.
The land was tortured and the seas where stirred,
With this hopelessness that is yet to be deterred.
Our generation are the ones seen as ignorant,
But we aren’t the ones who created this incident.
We are expected to fix the mistakes that were made,
But it’s too late to save what’s already in the grave.
A sky filled with toxins, and a core that is burning,
And we are treated like it’s something we’re earning.
We do not want your rubbish, your trash left behind,
But we don’t have a choice, because you were so blind.
So don’t die in peace thinking you left something so great,
When you left us a warzone that can only degrade.
Our children will starve with societies hatefulness,
Yet you pretend that we should gleam with our gratefulness.
You think our heads should be hung, faces grim with shame,
Yet you are the ones who left something so vain.
You tell us we’re stupid, and that our minds are small,
But you are the ones who destroyed it all.
So don’t smile with pride thinking you are the ones,
When we will save your daughters and sons.
We deserve vengeance, we deserve recognition,
Because humanity will cease without our great mission.
Our hearts filled with hope, because life is so grim,
Our smiles so bright, or else they will dim.
We may seem stupid, or overly progressive,
But its only because you are the aggressive.
Our world must be saved, our society fixed,
And our hands will sew it with needles and stitches.
We will help our children, our friends, our homes,
Because the people before us left us alone.
So stand by our sides, drop all your weapons,
We must stand together before we lose seconds.
Bring your mother, your father, your aunt and your sibling,
So we can create an Earth that is only fulfilling.
Fix our lands, our society, our oceans, and our skies,
So we can continue this legacy of hope and of pride.
It’s so we can sleep with the moon, our eyelids closing,
Dreaming of a world that isn’t decomposing.
