When I first did this project in college, there were a lot of character portraits that I thought would make a good intro for the remake so here's all of those
Also a note on Alice in Grungeland: Episodes will update weekly on Saturday's and from here on out will be one page each unless it's a spread!
Set in 1990s Seattle. Alice Liddell, frontwoman of local grunge band Jabberwock, has a decision to make, a week to do it, and definitely is overcomplicating things. (Recommended for a teen and up audience)
Alice in Grungeland is a small story about 90s grunge and the people who made it. It's about art, why we make art, and what we do with that art. It's about grief and change and it's also about how much phone calls suck. It's about a lot of small things.
With more and more eyes turning to Seattle's local music scene and looking for new bands to pull into the growing spotlight on the region, Alice Liddell is given an offer from White Rabbit Studios for representation. The problem with that being...well...Alice kinda didn't think she'd get this far, and she doesn't know if it's the right move for her and Jabberwock, her band. Even worse, though, no one else can make the choice for her. She has to decide. And Opal, her prospective manager, is offering her a week to do so. Through that time, Alice reflects on her friends, on her scene, on the other musicians around her and also the ones who are gone as she agonizes a bit too hard. But it's a big decision, right? Because it's one that could lead to a life Alice could have never imagined, but also lead her somewhere far worse she never wanted to go.
Also she might go fishing with her sister this week so like, there's that.
