Description

Arden is a young girl living in turmoil in a steam-punk Victorian-era country, Uhtcere. The gap between the rich and poor has been increasing significantly. Poor areas have become very run down, over crowded, and dirty. The lower class used to have a very different economic system than the upper class, relying on factory exports. Rulers and politicians, have slowly been ignoring the problems the poor face, realizing it would be too expensive and far too much work to accommodate them, especially with the rich succeeding and thriving at the rate that they are. The middle and lower class areas have been becoming more dangerous. Gangs have been forming to rebel against the government, the upper class, and even other low class citizens to obtain goods and spread terror. At this point the lower class don't even have a political/economic system anymore. The city officials can't afford to supply clean water in some areas. Marquess Burke was the representative of the upper class. Arden has been living with the Marquess and his family ever since her home was attacked. The only reason Marquees Burke adopted her was for publicity and because he knew her parents. Arden has grown up with many relatives, distant and close, as well as other upper class citizens being murdered and injured by reckless, desperate and infuriated citizens.
