Enjo was walking alone through a rundown neighborhood in Japan. He’s 21 Years Old, and stands at 5’9”. He also dresses oddly for the average person, with a black facemask, a jacket with a fur collar, red jeans, and sneakers. His hair was red, as well. The reason he looks strange is due to who he is. Enjo is the leader of a newcomer Yakuza Family named the Muho Kaji Family. It has 7 other Members named Fumetsu, Konchu, Taberu, Kireina, Chinmoku, Juryoku, and Julia. Their name wasn’t well-known like other Families, as they had only formed a Year ago and haven’t yet been very active in the Community, but something set them apart from the other families, aside from their relatively small size. They didn’t do crimes to exploit the innocent. They certainly did some minor illegal things, but they never take advantage of the weak or innocent. In fact, it was Enjo’s goal to one day be strong enough to take down those evil Yakuza Families to protect those people. But tonight, he was just heading home to his Apartment, ready to sleep. For they had big plans the following day.
But just as Enjo was getting ready to enter the Apartment Complex, he heard a noise in the alley next to it. Curiosity got the better of him and he entered. He went behind the building, and saw what looked like some Thugs standing around a bag. He recognized their uniforms, they were from the Kage No O (King of Shadows) Family, the biggest and most threatening Yakuza Family in Japan. Of all the bad ones, they were the baddest, there’s nothing they wouldn’t do should their mysterious leader want it. Luckily, these guys were just low-level Thugs. No one to be concerned about. Still, Enjo didn’t enjoy the idea of thugs around his Home, and so he approached. As he did, her heard them talking to each other.
“How much do you think we’ll get for this?” One said.
“Orders came from one of the Executives.” Another replied. “Rumor has it, it was orders from the Boss himself. I imagine it’ll be a couple billion Yen.”
“For real? Man, it’s gotta be important…” The third one said. “When we bring it in, we probably won’t JUST get paid, I bet it’ll be big promotions~”
The three thugs noticed Enjo approach with his hands in his pockets. They were taken aback seeing him at first, but regained composure. One of the thugs walked up to him, pointing a bat at his face.
“Mind your own business, pal. This is Yakuza Business.” He said in a threatening tone.
“...What could be in that bag…” Enjo asked. “That would have you boys out here so late at night…”
“None of your business, like he said.” One of the other Thugs replied, standing between Enjo and the bag. “Beat it.”
Enjo’s eyes narrowed into a glare. He spoke a bit louder.
“I don’t like criminals around my place.” He said. “I suggest YOU lot beat it.”
“Why you…!” The Thug said, rearing his baseball bat back to strike. “I’ll teach you to mess with the Kage-”
Fast as lightning, Enjo reached up and grabbed the Thug’s face. The Thug felt Enjo’s palm rapidly get hotter, until…a giant bust of Flames shot from it, scorching the Thug’s head to nothing more than ashes! Enjo dropped the body down to the ground, and continued to walk forward.
“Shit!” One of the Thugs yelled, in shock. “This guy’s an Aura User!”
The other of the two Thugs moved forward and kicked Enjo in the stomach, but to his surprise, he didn’t move an inch!
“What is this guy made of?!” He thought to himself. “It’s like hitting one of those big truck tires!”
Enjo looked at the shoe print on his shirt and growled slightly. He then spun and roundhouse kicked the Thug, slamming his head against the wall! The Thug went limp and slid down to the ground motionless. The last Thug desperately pulled out a handgun and shot at Enjo, who was hit in the shoulder, making him flinch and stumble back.
“Heh, he’s not that tough…” The Thug said to himself quietly.
However, the bullet hole started to slowly close as a glowing yellow aura formed around Enjo’s body. Within seconds the small hole had been closed. Enjo scowled, clearly pissed…
“You guys have no respect…y’know how much these clothes cost?” Enjo said, angrily. “Why don’t you pay with your life!”
Enjo disappeared and reappeared close to the Thug within an instant, and punched him clean in the jaw, knocking him at least 10 feet into the air and onto his back. Enjo dusted himself off and turned back to the bag. Since he went through all the trouble, and since it seemed important, he decided he might as well take it with him. However, when he lifted it up, he was surprised. It didn’t feel like money or anything metal inside. It felt kind of soft, and the bag didn’t bend like something solid was in it. He had a bad feeling, but decided to bring it up to his Apartment anyway. Luckily, the staff didn’t really care when he walked in with a large, oddly-shaped bag. With all the criminal activity in the area, they’ve likely learned to not ask questions. Enjo entered his room on the 4th Floor, and laid the bag down on the ground.
“Now let’s see what my prize is…” Enjo said to himself, as he untied the top of the bag.
As Enjo opened the bag, he said what looked like white fur. Could it be a pelt of some rare animal? Maybe some kind of vintage fur coat or something. He felt it, but it didn’t feel like fur…it felt more like hair.
“...Don’t tell me…” Enjo thought to himself…
He reached in and pulled out what was in the bag, and his suspicions were proven true, unfortunately. It was a Woman with white hair, and roughed-up clothing. She had some bruises and seemed pretty beat up. Thinking back on those Thugs, especially the one with the bat, he definitely didn’t feel any guilt over what he did to them anymore.
“Tsch. Human trafficking now? Even the Kage No O Family’s never gone that far before…” Enjo said to himself quietly. “Though it’s probably not something they couldn’t do if they wanted to…damn mongrels.”
Enjo checked her pulse and breathing, seeing that she was still alive. He sighed and lifted her up, laying her on his couch. He then paced around a bit, trying to think.
“What do I do now…I was hoping for something to sell, but I can’t sell a damn PERSON!” Enjo grumbled quietly. “I can’t just throw her out…in her condition she’ll die if she doesn’t get picked up by more Thugs…”
He looked back at the Woman, and then walked to his fridge. He opened the freezer to find exactly what he was looking for. He had some frozen peas and small ice packs. He took them out and used some dishrags to secure them where there was bruising and swelling. He also used some rags to wrap some parts of her that were bleeding. The tricky part was her swollen eye. He couldn’t tell if it was injured under the swelling, so he made a small cut to reduce the swelling using his pocket knife. The swelling went down enough that he could see her eye. It had some damaged blood vessels, giving it a red appearance in the sclera, but nothing that won’t heal with a bit of time. But then, as he finished checking her eye, he noticed it move slightly.
Enjo sighed, and then spoke, “How long have you been awake?”
The Woman didn’t reply, still trying to appear asleep.
“...I saw your eye move.” Enjo said. “Also your eyelids clenched when I asked.”
“...Th-the cold woke me up…” She said, softly, and a bit weakly. “Wh-what are you doing?”
“Treating your injuries. They were pretty bad.” Enjo replied, his face softening just a little. “Are they starting to feel better?”
“Other than my eye stinging from you cutting under it…” She said, trying not to sound rude.
“Sorry about that, I needed to make sure your eye itself wasn’t hurt.” Enjo said, handing her an ice pack. “Hold this on your eye. It’ll bring down what’s left of the swelling, and the pressure will hold the bleeding.”
She did as he told, and held the ice pack against her eye.
“...What’s your name?” Enjo asked. “Mine is Enjo.”
“Um…mine is Gomu.” She replied, a bit hesitant. “I don’t really…remember much else…”
“Might be head trauma. There was bruising on your head when I found you.” Enjo said to her. “Or maybe a Memory condition. I’d say we could go to a Hospital, but if the Yakuza are after you for some reason that’d be a bad idea…especially the Kage No O Family…they’d find you fast if we took you anywhere public.”
Enjo stood up, and Gomu grabbed the end of his Jacket.
“Hey…who are you really…?” Gomu asked. “You aren’t just ‘Enjo’...I can tell…”
Enjo looked back at her, and replied,
“I’m the head of a small Yakuza Group…” Enjo said. “But we don’t do bad stuff like other ones do. We’re…chill.”
“Is there such a thing as a ‘chill’ Yakuza?” Gomu asked, sceptical.
“Probably not entirely. We definitely aren’t saints.” Enjo replied, as he went to the Kitchen, and grabbed a frozen meal from the freezer.
He brought the meal over and held it over his palm. A flame formed in his palm, and heated it up. The flame startled Gomu, who stared at it in shock.
“How…how did you do that?” Gomu asked, looking at the flame.
“It’s called Aura.” Enjo replied. “But don’t worry about that right now. You should eat.”
He laid the food in front of Gomu, who sat up to eat it. Gomu teared up as she tasted the food, and felt its warmth. She wasn’t sure why, but it felt like she hadn’t felt something so nice…ever? She looked at Enjo, who was texting someone on his phone.
“Um…thank you for the food…” Gomu said, sheepishly.
“No problem.” Enjo said, bluntly. “Don’t worry about sleeping on the couch. I don’t have a bed, anyway.”
“You don’t…have a bed?” Gomu questioned.
“Never felt the need for one…” Enjo replied. “I can sleep in this chair, don’t worry about it. You just get some rest…we both have a lot to do tomorrow.”
