Big Dreams, Bigger Powers

The Beginning

The Beginning

Nov 02, 2022

I had been pushed out into the depths of nowhere, it felt as if I was in Antarctica and the Sahara desert all at once, as the temperatures were very unique. It was pitch black, I could barely see anything and then out of nowhere, a gigantic, spaceship-like form was coming towards me. It was as blue as the ocean and just so majestical.

At first, I was dead scared of seeing a huge blue spaceship-like shape, but then it finally reached me. It was so peaceful yet very scary at the same time like it was warning you not to mess with it or it will hurt you. It looked like floating atoms spiraling around me.

Then suddenly I heard shouting- my teacher had been yelling at me for the past five minutes to get up and constantly saying that I needed to pay more attention in class than sleeping, and obviously because it's High school everyone was staring at me, with their bickering laughter floating in the air.

I readjusted my seating position and started listening to this boring lesson of history and carried on with all of my classes exactly the same...

********************************************************************************************************************

School's finally over, now it's our big break, an entire month of holidays just to relax.

I was just about to jump onto my incredible motorbike when I heard someone shouting my name ... of course, it was my best friend Sasha!!!

"Hey wait up!!" she shouts, sounding out of breath.

"Hey" I yell, "hurry up then silly," I say in an amused tone.

Sasha finally gets to me, and she looks exhausted from running through the parking lot.

"Could you give me a lift home, please?" she says with a childish tone in her voice.

"Of course silly, why would I ever say no, you're basically like a sister to me" I reply bemused.

"Thank you," she says childishly, "Also can we have a sleepover at your place tomorrow after school?" she asks.

"What do you mean after school? School holiday starts today" I respond confused.

"I know that silly, but remember our entire grade is forced to come tomorrow for a fundraiser......" she replies as if I should have known.

"Wait that's compulsory?" I say, slightly annoyed that I have to come to school still!

"Yip" she replies, sounding all so happy.

"Aggggg fineeee" I say exasperated.

"Come on, hop on the bike, and remember don't let go or you'll probably go flying." I remind her seriously.

"haha very funny, I'm obviously not gonna let go," she says with laughter in her voice.

I finally dropped Sasha off at her house and headed home myself.

"Hellooo, I'm home family, did you guys miss me!!!" I shout eager to be back home.

"Hey sweetie, how was school?" my mum replies, exiting the kitchen.

"Same old same old," I say.

"Hey there's my little sis..." my older brother Apollo says as he ruffles my hair.

"Stop that!!!!" I shout at him with annoyance rolling off my tongue.

"Ahh come on, how can I resist your hair is always so soft and poofy, plus I'm your older brother so it's my duty to annoy you by doing so." He says happily, using the older sibling card on me.

I just roll my eyes, "Whatever"

I go upstairs excitedly rushing towards my bedroom. Ahh how much I missed you my dear beloved bedroom..... I always feel good just as soon as I step inside, how can I not with my blue ocean-painted walls and night sky ceiling scattered with stars.

(The next day)

Agg, I can't believe I'm getting dragged into this...
Like why do we have to go to school today, to raise funds for the bloody damn rugby and soccer boys!
Why can't they do it themselves?!!!! I think to myself, as I lay in bed getting annoyed that I have to get up and go to school instead of sleeping in.

I finally decide to hop out of bed so I don't make myself late and head straight toward my closet.

I think I'll wear a baby blue top with black buttoned-up shorts and my white and black converse shoes...
ohhh and it might get chilly so I'll put on my favourite black and white jacket that has a blue rose embroidered on the back- I absolutely love it, it just looks so astounding.

As I finish tying my shoelace I make my way downstairs and head straight for the door.

"Bye, I'm off to my suffering" I yell out to mum and Apollo.

"bye kiddo" he yells back.

"bye sweetie, enjoy" my mum yells just before I close the door.

I hop onto my bike, making my way to Sasha, luckily she doesn't live that far away from me, she's literally a 10-minute drive from me.

I make my way up to Sashas' driveway and see she's already waiting for me by her door and begins to walk towards me.

"Hey, thanks again for picking me up, oh and I see you're wearing your favourite jacket..." she says, impressed that I decided to wear my favourite jacket.

"Hey, indeed I am, at least it makes today not so bad," I say jokingly.

We arrive at the school and walk all the way to the field.

"I still can't believe that we have to do this!" My voice filled with annoyance as my holiday sleep has been ruined on the first day!

"It's not that bad... all we have to do is show up, watch the games, cheer our school on, and then the one who wins will get to use the money our school and our rivalry school saved up," She says with a big smile on her face as she continues to speak, " it's basically a fun game as the school gets to get the players another field and the school can successfully buy it with the money won and make it better for rugby and soccer boys to play," she says reminding me why this 'fundraising' is even happening.

And she continues to add to her list of reasons, "I mean you know how it is, there's not enough space for both teams to play especially when our school has to host the matches then there's a conflict on who can play on what day, you know the rest," she says calmly.

"But still, they should just get the players to cheer then," I say annoyed.

We finally arrived at the field and found seats for us that weren't taken.

I left Sasha to watch our seats at the stands whilst I go and get some snacks, and now I'm regretting that decision because this line is soooo long, agg I should have just stayed and let her get them.

I finally ordered 2 cokes and 2 hotdogs with tomato sauce and a bit of hot sauce... you know to spice things up.

Finally, I'm with the snacks in hand and literally 5 steps away from Sasha, and then... BAM ... someone bumped into me!

I look down at my shirt to see sauce staining it with colours red and orange.

I look up as I hear the voice of the culprit who bumped me.

"Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't see ya there" he tries saying in an apologetic tone.

Already annoyed with having to be here I reply in a subtle but angry manner, "Well maybe you should have looked where you were walking!"

"I said I'm sorry, what can I do to help?" he says with a look of shock on his face as if he just expected me to forgive him instantly and not be angry!?!

"Nothing it's fine, just move out of the way please," I say, trying to get what's left of the snacks to Sasha and for me to get to my seat.

"Ok, I am sorry though," he says again, before leaving sounding a bit more like he actually meant it.

"He's just lucky it didn't mess my jacket or else it would have been game over...

Agg and now I'm all smelly and sticky!" I mumble to myself.

"Hey, woah what happened?" Sasha asks, shocked at the sight of my outfit.

"Some guy bumped me and the hotdog sauces spilled all over me, I'm just glad my jacket isn't ruined" I explain to her with a sorrowful expression on my face for the damage done to my clothes.

"I'm sorry," she says sounding remorseful as she continues to say "you're right because if your jacket was ruined it would have been game over for him," she says lightening the mood with her playfulness.

"Damn right," I say laughing back.

I hand Sasha the hotdogs and sit through the entire game smelling like a tomato mixed with some spice and feeling sticky but soon it didn't even bother me.

"I don't know why the other school is even competing I mean they have enough fields" I point out to Sasha.

"Competition I suppose," she says unfazed.

The game finally ended and our school lost 9-8

It was a good game though not gonna lie like our school is actually good.

We all got to leave after that but Sasha and I stayed a bit longer because we like to leave when it's not so crowded.

Plus it was nice stargazing for a bit.

We got up and started walking towards my bike then I bumped into the same freaking dude, or I think it was the same dude I mean this time they had our rival's school sports clothes on.

"Again!!!!" I yell, with complete and utter annoyance.

"oh hey I'm sorry didn't mean to bump ya," he says.

"oh really, I'm sure you didn't because you can't use your eyes to look where you're walking!!!" I say, now really annoyed, especially since this guy seems to use the same line as last time, clearly expecting people to forgive him instantly whenever he does something careless, such as bumping into people.

"Hey wait, are you the same person I bumped into earlier?" he asks.

"I don't know, did you happen to have gotten sauce all over her shirt?" I say, sounding a bit too pissed off at a stained shirt incident.

"Ah so it is," he says arrogantly.

"No shit hey" I respond sarcastically to his remark.

"Well your school played well against us," he says calmly.

"Thanks?" my tone a bit relaxed, shocked at how quickly he changed the topic and the fact that he isn't so cocky that he is actually complementing our school.

I turn my head towards Sasha who's just watched this entire scene unravel before us, "Come on Sasha let's go it's getting late" I say as she was a few steps behind me before he bumped into me, luckily missing the impact of getting knocked.

"Right behind ya" she responds.

"Hey wait, what's your name?" he asks, just as I started walking towards my bike with Sasha again, making sure that we walked together instead of me being a smartass thinking if I get to the bike first at least I can start it and we could've been outta here.

"None of your business" I reply having my back towards him while Sasha and I continue our walk to my bike.

"Well mine's Hayden" he yells.

"Bye Hayden" I yell back at him.

Sasha and I get on the bike and leave the school premises.

"That guy seemed arrogant," Sasha says.

"Tell me about it, now I can understand the whole arch-enemy thing our school has going on" I yell loud enough so she can hear me through her helmet.

"It's a good thing you didn't tell him your name, remember last time their school vandalized certain people's cars that they knew in our school or just the people they had an issue with," she says in a serious yet calm tone.

"Yip I felt bad for those guys, at least it's not bad though and they don't go overboard like they only wrapped it in cling-wrap and egged the cars, also can't blame them, our school does the same," I say.
