Abigail watched as Isabel talked on the phone, her fingers delicately gripping the plastic fork and waving it in annoyance. All the words that were coming out of her friend's mouth were blurred as Abigail's eyes were fixated on Isabel. It didn't matter what Isabel did, Abigail seemed to find some sort of comfort in it. Her focus trailed the strand of hair that seemed to have slipped out of her high ponytail, making her overall appearance messy but hot. That was the thing with Isabel, she didn't even needed to try and people still swooned over her. She was a trend setter for the rest of the school.
Isabel was the definition of perfect in Abigail's eyes, with long, brown hair and a smooth, tanned complexion, there were no flaws to her. Isabel's piercing hazel eyes, that could have been passed for yellow when exposed in sunlight, complimented the rest of her frame. As for her figure, Isabel was blessed with the right curves in the right places.
Abigail, on the other hand was the opposite in terms of looks, as Isabel's hair held mystery and lust, Abigail's locks were golden and full of life. Abigail's eyes were the lightest blue, when paired with Isabel's and her body was not that far behind, having some curvature.
Isabel was not Abigail's only friend; she had many more, some being closer than others. Yet at the end of the day Abigail chose to spend her time with Isabel more. She savoured every moment; the good and the bad.
"Hey Abigail, are you even listening to me?" Tyler snapped his fingers near her ear as Abigail's forehead creased in irritation. Isabel paused her phone call and glanced at the two, shooting Abigail a smirk upon catching her staring. Abigail gulped and gave a small smile at the small action.
"Yeah sorry, what were you saying?" She faced towards a now-vexed Tyler and mumbled a sorry. She always got caught being stuck in her day dream or gawking at Isabel.
"Right, if you're done staring at Isabel I'll continue. Delilah and I were saying if you would like to join us Saturday night at the bowling alley. Ryan and the others will be there too." Tyler beamed ecstatically, making it hard for Abigail to refuse. Tyler and Delilah, being very close to Abigail, knew about her crush on Isabel. It pained them that she followed Isabel around like a lost-puppy even though Isabel was clearly not interested.
Abigail gave a hum in thought. Her mind tracing to Isabel as soon as she put her phone down. "I won't be able to come guys, I'm having a family dinner." Isabel spoke, the sadness evident in her voice. Abigail was also ready to say no but decided she had nothing better to do on a Saturday night.
"I'll go." Abigail smiled, her dimples shining as bright as her hair. Delilah exhaled in relief; she thought for a moment there Abigail would follow Isabel and also say no.
"Great! It'll be fun. Sorry you can't come Izzy." Tyler took a sip of his water, happy that Abigail would be coming. Isabel shrugged with a pout, Abigail's insides turning to mush.
"Hey guys." Karla walked over, dropping her bag down and giving everyone a hug. She hugged Isabel last, her arms wrapped around her neck as she conversed with Tyler and Delilah. Isabel barely paid attention to the small action, but Abigail wasn't too fond of it as she sunk into her chair. Of course they were just friends, nothing more. Abigail repeated to herself mentally. Isabel and Karla were always touchy especially in front of her.
"Oh shit Delilah get up, we're supposed to be meeting our history teacher." The two grabbed their belongings and dashed away, leaving behind Abigail, Isabel and Karla.
Isabel texted away at her phone as Abigail squirmed in her seat. They had been friends for as long as they could remember yet Isabel still intimidated Abigail to an extent.
"Hey Karla how you doing?" Abigail didn't hate Karla, she was her friend after all, but Karla was always near Isabel. It was understandable that the two were close friends, which was more than fine. But whenever they touched inappropriately, it always pulled Abigail's strings.
"I'm great. How are you?" Karla smiled as Abigail gave the same reply.
Moment later, Karla excused herself and left. "So." Isabel put down her phone and huffed. Abigail raised an eyebrow.
"So..." Abigail repeated and Isabel could not help but to pinch her cheeks.
"Oh you're so adorable!" Cooed Isabel, pinching them harder. As much as it hurt Abigail there was also some sort of pleasure in her sign of affection.
Abigail blushed shyly, not knowing how to answer to her compliments. Isabel let go and Abigail winced in the slight pain.
"Ow." Abigail chuckled away, her cheeks now crimson thanks to Isabel.
"Oh did I hurt you?" Isabel asked worriedly. She got up and sat right next to Abigail, her hand gently massaging the red area.
"It's fine. It doesn't hurt that much." Isabel rolled her eyes at the clear emphasis of that. She gave Abigail's cheek a quick peck.
"I'm sorry baby." She apologised and Abigail could not help but to wave it off. Though Abigail knew Isabel called nearly all her friend's baby, she melted a little at the pet name every time.
This was the life of Abigail Swanson. Madly in love with her best friend.
