It was another normal Monday morning at the coffee shop I worked at, with people coming and going with their orders, and some just stopping by to do their work.
I loved my job, and everything that came with it.
Sure, it didn't pay that well, but it felt good when people were happy with what they ordered.
It was 11:30 now, which meant that the morning rush had begun to die down, meaning most of the people had already left, and all of our pastries were gone.
I began to clean up, wiping off tables and taking plates and coffee cups back to clean.
After finishing, I took off my apron and hung it up, and walked out to where the cashier was, right next to it was my boss.
"Hey, is it okay if I take my break?"
I asked.
My boss looked at me, nodding.
"Before you do, theres a man over there at the window seat, mind checking up on him?"
I looked around in disbelief.
Someones still here? Shouldn't they be at work?
I continued to look around, until someone finally caught my eye.
There was a man, maybe in his mid twenties. He had messy black hair and hazel eyes, pale skin and glasses to top it all off.
"Oh my God. I- I can't go over there! Do you see him??"
My boss rolled her eyes.
"Stop being so gay, all you have to do is ask if he's alright, and then come right back. Seriously, stop falling for every random guy you see walk into this place. And I swear, if you say he's 'The one' I will fire you."
I nodded.
"Right, all I need to do is ask if he's alright. Nothing morning."
I said, smoothing down my shirt, ever so slowly walking over to him.
"H-hi. Um. I wanted to check and see if you were looking fine. I- I mean doing fine, yes. Doing fine....hows your coffee?"
He looked up at me from his book and smiled, taking a sip of said coffee.
"Its good, send my regards to the.....chef? Coffee maker? Is there really even a name?'
I wanted to thank this angel for blessing my coffee shop.
"Haha- well. I made it."
He looked up and smiled again.
"Well then, thank you...Abe." He said, obviously reading my name tag.
"For your amazing coffee making skills."
I was slowly deteriorating.
Thank you God for sending me this angel.
"Well- thank you. um..."
"Vasily"
He said, sticking out his hand.
I shook it.
"I'm guessing you're not from here?"
He nodded.
"You guessed correctly, I'm visiting family for the next month or so."
"Why so long?"
He shrugged.
"When you live overseas, its nice to spend long amounts of time with the ones you love."
He had a point there.
"Well, I won't keep you any longer, I imagine you need to get back to work."
He said, standing up and gathering his things, downing the rest of his coffee.
"Wait- you'll be back tomorrow, right?"
What was I saying?
"Depends, promise to make me another delicious cup of coffee?"
He said with a smirk.
I frantically nodded.
"Then I'll see you again tomorrow."
And with that, he left.
I stood staring at the door.
What had I gotten myself into?
"Well. If this was a bar, I'd say that would've gone a little differently."
My boss said.
I sighed.
If only.
"Alright lover boy, back to work. Breaks over."
I nodded, rushing back and putting my apron back on.
If only tomorrow came faster.
