Chapter 1: The Outskirts
The Story opens with a gusty black cloud. The story takes place within the universe of The Agonies, a world filled with nightmares of your childhood. From buildings to food, the world's environment and items manifest as incredibly large and scale but are always decaying and rotten. Punishments in this world are more violent, gory, and brutal than torture machines. Each landmark seems to have its own specific theming.
In this world, equally gigantic human-like beings known as "Torments" exist as predatory monsters that kidnap small children that are unfortunate enough to end up in their domain. Many of them are grotesque and monstrous, with inhuman abilities, body proportions, and other nightmarish features. The Torments are aggressive, and their behavior is primarily instinctual, or desire driven to a twisted and murderous degree. Even animals of the world are twisted and warped and can be threatening to some degree. When caught, instead of mostly being eaten, there's a fate worse than death depending on what monster catches you.
The children and teenagers within this world either struggle to survive under brutal conditions or fall victim to mysterious forces and monsters that viciously prey on them. Children and Teenagers themselves can even be turned into "Torments" by breaking their hope, sanity, and souls away. In rare cases, they can also gain their own set of unnatural abilities.
An overhead view of The Carnage. It is a dismal, gloomy coastal city consisting of countless looming brown buildings that bend and sag down like rotting dying plants. The city has child corpses across the streets. Doors and windows are boarded up or broken, many buildings and apartments appear abandoned and suffering from leaks and rot, and clotheslines are left to be drenched in the pouring blood. The buildings have giant cracks, which resemble veins, and holes with leaking giant, rotting flesh pouring out. Giant eyeballs can be seen crawling out the windows. Giant swollen brains are poking out from the top of buildings. Blood stains are shown across the walls and doors.
A little boy in a blue shirt, brown skin with freckles on his face. His hair is black, short, and hidden under his backwards blue cap with only triangular bangs that cover his eyes sticking out. When his cap is removed, he has a small rectangular cowlick underneath. He is 12 years old. The boy has red pants and white socks on. He is walking on the Outskirts of the city. The little boy, named Blue, looks up at the town, a bit afraid.
The Outskirts are an empty dry land. It is filled with brown musky ground. The nearby plants are fleshy and dark pink. Off in the distance is the silhouette of The Carnage. Destroyed buildings are out for anyone to take shelter in. Tiny chunks of flesh blobs are shown growing out of the ground.
Blue: "I can do this...He would’ve wanted me to stay alive. I won’t let him-”
Lightning strikes, thus scaring the kid. Blue cowards in fear a little. It starts to rain around him.
Blue: “Yikes! W-what is this place? I've never been here before..."
Blue walks around for a few more moments, inspecting his surroundings. He then gets concerned about the ground and begins jumping on it. He feels the ground is unstable and bouncy.
Blue: "The ground...it feels...off...This isn't normal"
Blue begins sinking into the ground before climbing out. Blue stumbles and runs before he sinks further. Blue trips and falls. Blue groans and lifts his head. He sees Zarah, mistaking her for a rat, looking for food in a destroyed building. Blue looks around and finds a stick.
Blue: "S-sorry, Mr. rat. I have to eat."
Blue sneaks up and bashes the stick hard on her head. He smashes it multiple times, until he notices Zarah is a child, like him. Zarah is a peach skinned 11-year-old girl. She wears a green shirtt. She wears a yellow long-sleeved T-shirt with white stripes underneath. She wears red pants and shoes on. She has long white grayish hair that covers her eyes. She also has freckles, a green hairband, and a few bandages.
Zarah: "Ah! Stop! Stop! Please!"
Blue quickly stops and puts the stick down, feeling ashamed.
Blue: "Oh, sorry, ma'am! I thought you was a rat"
The little girl stood up, rubbing her head in pain.
Zarah: "Ow. It's...it's fine. I just wanted some food, that is all. Ow...ow...”
Blue: “I said I was sorry...what’s your name?”
Zarah: “My names Zarah. What is yours?"
Blue: "Mine is Blue. Do you know what this place is?"
Zarah: "No. I'm new here."
Blue holds out his hand to her.
Blue: "Come on, we can get through this together."
Zarah: "Oh, sure. I...eh...I need all the help i can get."
Blue: "Great! Just don’t get separated. How hard can it be?"
Zarah: "It shouldn’t be hard at all. Ugh. My stomach. I need some food!"
Blue: "Well, I can probably find some food."
The 2 kids begin walking. They walk for a long period of time, until they take a rest near a destroyed building. Zarah clenches her stomach harder.
Zarah: "This pain is stressful as ever. Ugh"
Blue: "Just hold out a little longer. I'm sure we'll find-"
Blue is interrupted by The Wanderer emerge from the ground behind them, similar to a zombie crawling out of the ground. The Wanderer emits sounds of a loud dried out moan that sounds like he’s been suffering from the lack of water.
The Wanderer is a monster that resembles a starving man made out of rotten red flesh. His body structure is very lanky with long, bony limbs, a saggy neck, and his entire body resembles a person with gluconeogenesis (When a person's body eats itself due to starvation). His wrinkled face bares two dark, empty sunken eyes that have been gouged out and a wide, toothy grin full of crooked and cracked teeth. He lacks any type of hair and is left completely bald. His skin is red, fleshy and rotten. He lacks any form of clothing and is just a walking husk begging to eat anything he sees as his forever lasting starvation forces him to do so. He would even eat himself if he had no other choice. While it's painful for him, his limbs grow back.
Blue and Zarah shield their heads in fear. Blue peaks and sees the monster wandering the area. Blue then hides around a few buildings. Blue looks at Zarah, who is having trouble walking.
Blue: "Z-Zarah! Hurry!"
Zarah: "I can't! My stomach...I can't take it!"
Blue: "Shh! Shh! Hold on."
Blue rushes to Zarah and helps her stand. Zarah then passes out on the ground. Blue grabs her by the arm.
Zarah: "So... hungry"
Blue begins to drag Zarah by the arm.
Blue: "Hold still, we're almost there. I’m not losing another friend already!"
Blue drags Zarah into a tall, wrecked building and goes into an apartment room. Blue puts Zarah on a bed and puts her head on a pillow. Blue looks around for food,
Blue: "Come on. There has to be something here for me to find."
Zarah: "B-blue?"
Blue: "Zarah? What’s the matter?"
The Wanderer's giant hand busts through the walls and feels around. The Wanderer gets a bit too close to the unconscious Zarah.
Blue: "Zarah! Wake up!"
Blue opens a closet and tons of power tools fall out. Blue pulls out a few tools and throws it at the hand. Blue then pulls out a chainsaw and then saws off The Wanderer's hand. The Wanderer loses its balance and moves back in pain.
Blue: "Phew. I can't believe that worked..."
The Wanderer tries his plan again with his other hand. Blue chops his other hand off easily.
Blue: "Come and get me! I'm not scared of you!"
The Wanderer sticks his whole head through. Blue, having enough, throws objects to plug up the monster's nose, eye sockets, and mouth. The Wanderer struggles to breathe and isn’t able to remove the various objects from his nose. This gives Blue enough time to cut off the beast's head using the chainsaw. Blue watches as the body falls to the ground, creating a loud boom. This wakes Zarah up.
Zarah: "Ah! Blue?! What- I- what happened?!"
Blue: "Stuff...stuff happened. I pretty much almost died"
Zarah: “Oh...”
Blue is now exhausted and puts the chainsaw down. He looks to the side and finds some left-over bread. He hands it over to Zarah. Zarah takes a huge bite and gives a piece to Blue. Blue declines the offer.
Blue: “No thanks! I'm not hungry.”
The Kids exit the wrecked apartment and enter The Carnage. Blue and Zarah notice falling flesh fall from the buildings.
Blue: "Gross. What is this?"
Zarah: "I think it's...flesh? Ew, it's squishy..."
Blue and Zarah walk further and see 2 shadows running in front of them. The 2 shadows are the same size as Blue and Zarah.
Blue: "Hello? Hey! Where are- Who are they?"
Zarah: "You think I know?"
Blue: "Just follow- M-ME?!"
Blue nearly falls off a giant chasm filled with molten flesh with eyeballs. Zarah catches Blue and quickly pulls him up. They see 4 fleshy tentacles rise from the ground and pull an entire building underground. An unknown monster that sounds like a deformed baby is heard shrieking from beneath the pit.
Blue: "T-thanks for saving me..."
Zarah: "N-no... problem"
Blue: “Y-you saw that right?”
Zarah: “Yeah. We better cross this gap.”
They carefully balance themselves across the chasm. Near the end Zarah nearly falls off, but Blue grabs her hand.
Zarah: "Blue...BLUE?!"
Blue: "I gotcha! I gotcha!"
Zarah: "Hurry! Hurry! pull me up. Please!"
Blue pulls Zarah up right before she falls off.
Blue: “We better watch our step. Anyway, where are those other kids?’
Blue and Zarah watch as one of the children giving the other child a boost through The Library's window and Stellar tosses down a rope. Kane climbs up after Stellar.
Zarah: “Blue, look!”
Blue: "Hey! You two! Hmph, come on, Zarah. Let's follow them."
Zarah: "Are you sure? We just saw them!"
Blue: "Darn right, I'm sure. It's better to have more allies"
Zarah: "Again, how do you know they are evil?!"
Blue: "Hmm, you're right, but we got to do something. I rather not stand here doing nothing."
Blue and Zarah follow shortly behind. They climb up the rope and make it inside The Library. They first land on a small table once inside.
