Its starts somewhere, that is the fate in which you are born. Sometimes you're in control of it, but the majority of times you don’t get that option.
I remember the moment in my life in which I first started to question that somewhere.
Why am I really here?
“Get out of here freak!”
What’s really the purpose of my life?
“I heard he can’t feel anything, that his mother abandoned him!”
“I don’t blame her I wouldn’t want him either.”
Why did this happen to me?
“Stop thinking you can be anything!”
“It amazes me that you even try.”
Sometimes not everything is what you want it to be.
Things you want to happen, don’t necessarily come out that way….
Hopes are just a protection, but once it's broken what are you left with?
Expectation after expectation, there just idling thoughts, excuses, filler words…
I lived in darkness for as long as I could remember. It was easy for me to pretend and act like I was happy in my own play.
But for him…
He was always shining. Just like him, I wanted to strive to be something. To be somebody.
However I…
The stigma to society, a mistake that shouldn’t have happened. Knew better than anyone.
What am I to hold on to?
What am I if I am nothing?

The sounds of screaming were the first thing that registered in Nari Minseo mind. Stumbling quickly out of bed he quickly crammed on his circular glasses and looked up blankly at the ceiling above him.
“I can’t believe it you scum!”
“Huh?! Can’t a man have a good drink and watch baseball in the morning?!”
“Unbelievable you really are just a piece of shi-!”
“Jesus how many days in the row has it been already?” snapped a familiar voice.
Nari flinched before letting out a sigh as he threw a look at his older foster brother.
“Will you ever knock on the door, like a normal person, before waltzing right on in like you own the damn place Seung Chul!”
The twenty-three-year-old gave a shrug with his shoulders and grinned. His grey eyes sparkled with mischief as he looked at Nari’s disheveled appearance.
“Technically speaking, I do since my Dad gave me one of the extra keys. Thank you very much for my lovely Gyeong Chul!” Seung yelled getting on his knees and clasping his hands together as he fake cried.
“Wow that's amazing, you literally have no shame.” Nari mocked as he ruffled a hand threw his hair and yawned.
Seung rolled his eyes and stood. “Whatever my old man is so used to my antics by now he wouldn’t be that bothered. Honesty how many years have you been living with us now Minseo?”
“Long enough,” Nari muttered shoving past Seung who protested.
“Come on Minseo! My bro!” Seung yelled after him as he entered the kitchen.
Nari ignored him going straight to the refrigerator placing his hand on the handle he pulled. However, when the door wouldn’t open, he turned and glared at Seung who had his hands crossed behind his back whistling.
“Seung can you remove your ability please, I’ve known about it for weeks now you don’t have to force yourself into hiding it anymore.”
“Hmph! You used to be so fun and light-hearted! What's been wrong with you lately? All jumpy and snappy, wait hold on don’t tell me.”
Nari sighed turning he glared at him. Seung put his hands together and smirked.
“You're on your man period huh?”
Nari almost fell over standing still. “Hyung you can’t be serious...Please leave as soon as possible.”
“Nari come on, talk to me!!” Seung whined as he snapped his fingers removing his ability from the refrigerator. Nari took that chance to open it and pull out some tea.
“For the millionth time, I said no. There’s nothing to talk about Hyung, oh before I forget here.” Nari opened the drawer by the kitchen sink pulling out a sealed envelope.
“Oh heck no not this nonsense again Nari, I won’t take it,” Seung said firmly crossing his hands over his chest. His black hair fell over his eyes at the motion and Nari took that advantage to slip it into Seungs bag on the counter.
“Sure Hyung, Whatever. Make sure it goes to the rent okay? Now please leave already and don’t come back for a while I gotta go to school and work right after.”
Seung pushes his hair out of his eyes, huffing angrily. “Urghhh seriously! Why are you so mean all the time! It’s not even your Turning and Revealing time yet!”
Nari slammed the tea bottle he was holding a little harder the necessary, glaring dangerously at Seung who flinch and put his hands up in surrender.
“Okay okay, I overstepped a line there, my apologies! I'll go ahead and get going now. Just make sure you eat okay?! And please at least send a text, to my dad or me, everyone once in a while that you're alive! I’ll try to stop by this weekend.”
Nari rolled his eyes and covered his ears while Seung nagged. “Alright, I’ll do my best to stay in contact more. Also, I wish you luck on your date today Hyung.” Nari said cutting Seung fussing off.
“Oh...yeah.” Seung smiled a little at the thought. “Don’t forget to remind me to bring you along to a family dinner. Dad got to meet her already, your the only one I have yet to introduce my lovely mate Aria Sun to!”
“Sure Hyung, now go,” Nari said firmly, opening the door to the front entrance, Seung bid him goodbye once more and ruffled his head before leaving.
Sighing again Nari closed the door. The arguing couple above him continued to argue but at this point, it was more of white noise than a bother. He went back to his room and started to change into his uniform.
Looking in the mirror he let what Seung said sink in this morning while studying his features.
“...You used to be so happy and lighthearted!... I wonder what’s up with you lately...”
“Oh, Hyung...if only you knew,” Nari muttered while looking himself over, his circular glasses covered his heterochromia eyes. His left was a charmel brown and his right a light blue. His lack of proper sleep was evident and his brown undercut curly hair enhanced his ruffled appearance and his thin figure.
“Now then…” Nari said to himself while grabbing his rain jacket and school bag. Looking at himself once more in the mirror before exiting out the door. “What character should I be today?”
..................................................................................................................................................
In this world having an ability of supernatural power or element of some sort was the new normal to this modern-day society. There were certain ranks and titles to each ability and it typically was formally tested on the day that one turns eighteen, whether it presents itself before then or not. Scientists called it the Wolf Gene that naturally evolved within humans creating the special powers people required today.
Nari walked with his hoodie up from his sweater underneath his school uniform, his rain jacket hung off his left arm, while his right hand carried his school bag. He walked by a group of teens that were laughing and joking with each other and kept his head down.
There were overall five different categories of abilities and social ranking.
The first group was the S Levels otherwise known as the True Alphas.
In this group, these individuals had all the glory and freedom their society had to offer. The natural-born leaders and power influencers that society praises and worships over. Nobody would ever dare question an individual that was categorized in the Alpha group level, and they were the only ones allowed to mark and mate the other categories whether or not it's their soulmate. This group was considered the toughest and most common category to be amongst the most powerful ability welders. A good characteristic of an Alpha is there scent outputs and differences.
Nari covered his nose as another group of males walked past him, he could tell right away they were in the True Alpha category and he wanted to avoid getting into a fight so early in the morning.
He stopped at a street light and lazily watched the cars pass while waiting to cross the street.
The second group was the minor Alphas, unlike the true Alphas, they come in around a level A and B group. Their abilities are not as strong as the True Alphas, but through Nari’s experience, he knew better than to mess with them. Most in this category have the ability of flight and or mind reading, and just like the True Alphas they can mark and claim anyone of any category they chose. They work more in the fields of minor management or in some type of professional professions such as a teacher or a doctor. They are even more common than that or True Alpha.
Nari blinked out of these thoughts as the light indicated he could cross the street. Shoving his hands in his pockets his head remained looking at the ground as he moved with the crowd that was heading to school or work. The morning was a little cold and there was a slightly cloudy overcast as Nari continued his way towards his high school.
The third and fourth group was the majority of the world's population, the Beta and Sub Beta group, that are leveled as a low B, C, D, and E rank. They worked the everyday nine to five jobs or worked within there packs if headed by an Alpha. They have to put in a request if they wish to mate or be mated with someone unlike the Alphas, however, even if they do they're not to harshly reprimand. They don’t have that strong sense of smell and their fangs aren’t as sharp as an Alphas. They are considered the followers and minor leaders within society.
Nari sighed as he arrived at his school, right in the courtyard sat a very trashed and vandalized desk, walking slowly over to it he wasn’t surprised to see that it was his. It was a common sight for him and he moved to go pick it up when a group of males from his class stopped him.
“Well, well if it isn’t Minseo. I’m surprised that you actually came early for once.” The main bully of the group snarked and flashed his fangs at him. His name was Loui Ping a transfer student from China, he like the majority of people was graced with learning his grouping from an early age due to his ability forming. He was a minor Alpha with the ability to manipulate words to his favor, but thankfully Nari wasn’t so gullible to fall for that.
“Do you have to do this so early in the damn morning Ping?” Nari snapped at him causing the other face to darken.
“You have no right to speak with me like that, you should respect an Alpha when you see one. Like I told you as long as you lower your head and submit to me this well all stop.”
Nari frowned and placed his school bag on the ground he would have to once again fight this group before class started.
The very last group was the Omegas and the non-ability wielding level. This group was rarest and most forsaken group one could be placed in. As an omega, your treated as the lowest of the low and are seen as only a tool for reproduction. You have no rights or say in society and typically earning a job is very unlikely. Omegas that are found are taken away to a location not known to the public, before being allowed to reenter society. However they can’t walk or roam freely they have to be accompanied by a True Alpha, be it their mate or not, or a member of a True Alphas pack. The category no one wanted to be in.
The category that Nari Minseo could only pray he wasn’t selected in.
