Yu Ha Yoon places the last of the boxes on the living room floor. He stretches his back with a satisfied grunt, smiling at the warm light flooding in from the windows. The white curtains dance in the gentle breeze signaling the beginning of a new life in this one bedroom apartment. It has been a long and hard journey finding a decent space in the sprawling downtown area within walking distance to the hospital he works at. But alas, he made it.
“Ha Yoon, let’s order some food before unpacking.” Park Dae Won closes the front door behind him. Beads of sweat glisten on his forehead but his big smile never wavers. “What do you want?”
“At this kinda time, it’s always jjajangmyeon, right?” Ha Yoon grins as he sits on the polished wooden floor. The only furniture they have is a cushion seat shoved in the corner of the living room but it is too far away from Ha Yoon and his legs really don’t have enough to walk all the way there. Who cares about decor right now? As long as he can rest his tired legs, a bare floor is all he needs.
“You never change.” Dae Won chuckles. “Get me whatever then. I’m gonna at least unpack the bathroom.”
“Will do.” Ha Yoon fishes out his phone from his jeans pocket and places an order for lunch. “Twenty minutes!” He calls out.
“Okay, you can help me out here!”
“Man, you really can’t do anything without me, eh?” Ha Yoon laughs as he carefully gets up and joins Dae Won in the small bathroom. “Even when we were teens, you’re always a handful.”
“Says you!”
“And I’m right!”
It truly is a miracle.
Since they were kids, Ha Yoon had always had a crush on Dae Won. Back when they were trouble-making punks. Back when Ha Yoon still wore skirts and had long hair, his feelings for Dae Won wasn’t a mystery. But it was one-sided. Going from best friends to something more was the hardest thing he had to face but five years later, here they were, moved into an apartment together.
Maybe he has used up all of his lifetime’s luck.
But now seeing Dae Won under the same roof as him tells him that this miracle is real.
Damn, he wants to hug him. To kiss him. To hold him close and never let go.
Dae Won’s brown hair curls just underneath his ears, tickling his neck. A sharp nose with a strong bridge. Bright smiling eyes. Lips that turn up to form small dimples in his cheeks. He stands tall at 190cm with long arms that can reach high places Ha Yoon has trouble with. The multiple holes in his ears are the only visible indication of his former lifestyle and even his wardrobe has changed to a brighter tone of clothes. As he has promised before their graduation, Park Dae Won has turned over a new leaf, leaving behind the punk lifestyle, ready to become an upstanding civilian of society.
And Yu Ha Yoon follows his steps. He has cleaned up as well. The last half of their high school years was hell-cramming everything into their heads simply to pass the exams. If they wanted to become decent adults, they had to at least graduate high school properly.
Glad those days are over.
"Why're you spacing out?" Dae Won's voice brings Ha Yoon back to his senses.
"Huh? Was I?"
"Yeah." Dae Won playfully ruffles Ha Yoon's short, light brown hair. His natural colour has returned after the many years of having dyed blond hair. "What are you thinking?"
Dae Won’s voice.
Damn.
Strong intonation. Not too deep. A warm voice that brings only a warm comfort.
Ha Yoon wants to jump into his arms and kiss him. But how can he do that when Dae Won looks at him with those gentle smiling eyes? Even without words, Dae Won promises to always be by his side, to share the happiness and sadness, to never walk away when things get tough. How can Ha Yoon ever reveal that he wants something more, something intimate, something messy…
Something that will make Ha Yoon scream in pure ecstasy?
Will he ever get to feel those strong arms wrap around him? The protective body pressing down on him as he writhes powerlessly underneath?
How can Ha Yoon ever spill his darkest secrets to Dae Won, the epitome of perfection?
