The great dragons, Guardians of the balance of light and dark, desperately await the one who will tip the balance toward the light.
Lisle, a wood cutter’s daughter, finds a hatchling dragon abandoned in the wood. Not knowing what else to do she cares for the infant Guardian.
As her Guardian grows, Lisle must find the strength to be the one the Guardian needs and travel with her adolescent dragon deep into Darkling Forest and the dangers lurking within.
On the way they meet a hunter, a blacksmith and a faery, who will join them in their quest to reach Guardian Mountain before their home is plunged forever into darkness.
