"In local news today! The well-known club '1-A', has entered new heights! It continues to skyrocket in popularity! T-" The male voice on the radio gets cut off once I roll over and hit the alarm, grabbing my phone and starting my morning routine of checking all the social medias. Riot hops onto the bed effectively covering it in her red fluff. "M~Morning Riot!" I say giving her a bunch of pets with my non-scrolling hand. "We've got a big day today ahead of us. Come on! I'm sure you wanna run before we go!" Her ears perk up and she dashes off into my closet. "Crazy dog~~" She already searching for gym shorts for me when I finally stop the doom scroll and roll out of bed. "Riot! I can get clothes my self thank you though! Go wait by the door," She drops the shorts in her mouths and rushes off again. I pull on a clean, not dog drooled covered, pair of shorts. Contemplating a shirt before I decide not to wear one, gotta flex those abbs I work so hard for. I grab my phone before heading out of my room. I sneakily try to grab Roit's harness. "Riot!"I whistle for her "Come on girl! You have to wear it if you wanna go on a run!" Her ears perk up from behind the couch, giving her away. "There we go" She walks over to me, head down but her ears still up. "Aw girl! It won't be that bad! I'm sure Mrs. Mo will have meat scraps for her favorite helper dog." Riot lets me put on her harness and with that, we're off.
A run was just what we needed. I do regret not wearing a shirt for the run. I mean im very comfortable in my own skin but the seats of other pissed of alphas seeing me and excited omegas starts to get annoying. I'm so lost in my thoughts, Riot has to bark and nip at my legs to snap me out of it. "Gah- sorry girl I zoned out didn't I! How 'bout we go to the Mo's to make up for it. I'm sure Mrs. Mo is waiting for us!" She happily wags her tail, in response. "Alright, Riot let's go! Come on double time!" Mr. and Mrs. Mo always give Riot the fat and unsaleable bits of meat. Mrs. Mo is sorta like my mom. She let me live above them for a few years, working in their shop with my Sister helping me rent from them. The Mo's are very kind soles. I love them both. They still have the same shop on the same corner, over the years they added a small medical side with the butcher/grocery area. They got their license to sell prescriptions two years after I started out working there. God that was just over 10 years ago, after I got tired of my home towns problems. We only have to backtrack a few blocks before we reach the Mo’s, not too bad. Riot nips at me one more time, eager as we head into the shop.
"Ah, Ejiro!! And my sweet Riot!" Mrs. Mo says popping up from behind the counter near the door. "Haha Hi, Mrs Mo! How's it going today?" I say as she grabs Riots leash. We quickly walk to the butcher area in the far back of the store. "Oh, you know how it is Eji!! Same old same old! I'm just happy to see you and my sweet Riot!" Mr Mo says all ready giving Riot bits of meat they can't sell. "Well since I'm here might as well get a bit of shopping done. Can you handle Riot?" I ask a little scared of leaving the front unwatched. And the Mo's do have some things I need for dinner tomorrow. "Yeah Eji! I can handle her! Can you work the front for a bit too? James forgot his lunch!" Mrs Mo says patting Riots head. "Yeah! You can take Riot if you want as well? I'm sure she'll love the extra-long walk today." I say walking to the register grabbing my old, red apron in the possess. "Ah! I'd love to! I'm sure James would love to see her at the new place." She grabs Riots leash and heads out. "Tell Him I said Hi!!!" I shout as they leave.
It's always a little slow in the mornings so I walk mindlessly around the store. Everything and Mo is a little ma and pa type shop in the middle-class dueling in town. God, I can't believe I still work here all the time. I mean I've had other jobs, my resume is rather large, they just never work out. My last job laid me off a week ago, thankfully I always try to have my rent paid 3 months in advance. I'm always happy to work at Everything and Mo I still love this place as much as I did starting out here. We kinda grew up together in a way. I joined the Mo's lives a year after this place came along. Two months before I moved. I walk over to the magazine rack. I give it one small spin as the latest drama pops up. I still think the little coin machines in the corner are one of the smartest suggestions I've ever made for this place besides the isle of chips and sweets towards the back. An odd habit my sister gave me comes out as I stare at the endcap full of sunglasses. A red 90's flip-up style pair catches my eye just as the door opens with a bell ding. I ran back behind the counter, "Welcome to Everything and Mo!!" A tall blonde man replies with a grunt as he grabs a hand cart and walks down and around the store. I have never been so happy that dad keeps spare shirts around more in my life. I'm less happy when I remember my hair isn't up, I was too lazy to do more than tie it back into a low pony tail. This man is truly something to gawk at, he's like a greek hero walking around. He's tall, though comparedto my stupid alpha heigh hes still rather short. As he squats to the bottom shelf, to grab one of the spiciest hot sauces we have, I can see just how much mussle this man, no hero, is made of.
He walks through the isles and rings the butcher bell, sending me scurrying over there. "No Yua today?" the man says with a deep gruff voice. "Ah no Mrs. Mo is off dropping Mr. Mo's lunch at the new place. You know how he is! Always forgetting something! That “crazy old man! I say packaging the chicken he pointed out halfway through me talking. He grunts "You new here?" "Ha no. I've worked here for years! You’re the newbie in this scenario." "Just started coming here a few weeks ago." He answers as I pass him his chicken. "Yup! Makes sense I was still working at my old place back then!" I say as we walk to the counter. "You quit?" He asks as I put in the codes for his veggies. "Nah fired. Jobs just never seem to stick, well at least I have this place. 38.60 please." He hands me the money. "That sucks must be something wrong with 'em. See ya around Red." And with that, he walks out of the store.
I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding till just now. That man.... something about him got to me. Urgh, It's probably just the hopeless romantic in me going haywire again. I got to remind myself people like me don't fall in love, we just get hurt. The rest of the day is rather uneventful, at least I think. That guy was in my head all day, well the four hours Mrs Mo was gone. "There must be something wrong with 'em." That's the first time in a long time, besides the Mo's and my sis, that someone hasn't blamed stuff like that on me. "Wrong with 'em" Not with you, them. God, why does that sound so good. It's not like I haven't heard it before. Just some random guy telling you that, let alone someone that looks like him. And what's with calling me Red! I mean my names right on my tag. I mean it was okay but still! "You better not be blushing like that to all the customers, Eji?!"Mama says stifling a giggle. " I-It's- It's not like that!! I'm just--!!" I stammer as Riot joins me at my side. "Ha! No need to explain Eji. I'm sorry I left you here for so long. You know how James is. That man cant do interiors to save his life!! You better head home!" Mrs Mo says putting on her apron and taking over the counter. "Yeah. I still need to shop around too! Junko is coming over tomorrow." I say picking up a basket and walking the isles, Riot not too far behind.
"Oh- That's good! You two haven't seen each other in.. how long again?" Mrs Mo says leaning over the counter, keeping the conversation going since no one is here. "Almost a year. She had been so busy with the wedding and moving." I say picking up food and other household items. "Aw~~ That's sweet! tell her I said congrats!" Mrs Mo says. She's always been a sap when it comes to weddings and love, I swear it's all the romance novels she reads. "I will!" "You guys are staying in again, right? Making her a fancy dinner?" She says eyeing my basket. "Yup! She wants to see how far the place is after I've been there all this time. I mean she hasn't seen it since I sat on boxes and ate on paper plates!" I say handing her the money since I already know the price. "Aw! You're always so sweet to her Eji! I swear James could learn a thing or two from you!" Mrs Mo says laughing. "Come on! He’s not that bad!" I say grabbing Riot getting ready to go. " No. No he's not. He's a great man just stuck in his ways." Mrs Mo says patting Riot goodbye. "See ya!" "See yea Eji!" We part ways, Riot, and take our time walking back to our small home.
