Yuichi, son of the most feared Mafia boss, sat alone, his gun resting heavily on his desk. Ash from the cigarette was falling from his lips as he looked to the window and the object of his gaze.
The office was dimly lit, the only light source being the red and green lights from the alarm panel on the wall. The room stunk of cigarette smoke, the ashtray on his desk was full. The smell of leather overwhelmed him. He could smell his own body odor, a mix of sweat and cologne. His eyes were sunken and sullen, and the look in his gaze betrayed his worry. He had realized that there was a problem, and he was committed to uncovering the cause of the recent burglaries that had been occurring in his mafia's domain.
He thought back to the recent events and tried to piece together a plan; it was clear that this was no ordinary gang of criminals. No, it was something far more devilish. Someone from outside must be behind this, and they must have some sort of plan in mind.
Yuichi reached for another cigarette and lit it, taking a deep drag. He leaned back in his chair, pondering his options. The obvious solution would be to call in an army of henchmen and take on the intruders head-on, but that would be a risky move. There was no telling what kind of firepower the opposition had at their disposal, and Yuichi wasn't about to risk his men in a fight he might not win.
No, he decided. There had to be another way. He stubbed out his cigarette and reached out for a notepad and pen, scribbling out a list of possibilities. After a few moments, he had narrowed it down to two choices: they could either try to infiltrate the intruders' ranks, or they could negotiate a truce.
At first, Yuichi wasn't sure which option he preferred. He knew that infiltrating the intruders' ranks would be dangerous, and he wasn't sure if his men would be up to the task. On the other hand, negotiating a peace could be equally risky, as there was no telling what the other side wanted in exchange.
He sat for a few moments, weighing the pros and cons of each option. Finally, he decided that trying to infiltrate the intruders' ranks was a risk worth taking. It would be a difficult mission, but at least it would give him some idea of who the intruders were and what they were after.
He got up and grabbed his gun, stuffing it into the waistband of his pants. Then he opened the door and stepped out into the hall, his men falling into step behind him.
He looked around, his gaze settling on each of his men in turn. He had chosen them carefully, selecting only the best and most trustworthy. He trusted them with his life, and he knew that they would do whatever he asked of them without question.
"We must take action to expose the identity of these intruders," he declared, clenching his fist. "Our mission is one of peril, but it's the only way to end this tyranny once and for all." His voice rang with bloodthirstiness as he stared determinedly into the horizon. “I, Ito Yuichi, declare that I will no longer go along with the rules of the Scorpion and accept the current order. I challenge the Red Scorpion and join the attacking gang.”
Yuichi instructed his comrades to stay put. That way, all members of the Mafia would be aware of his betrayal. It would help guarantee he could maintain his secret identity once he was accepted into the gang. And the other men wordlessly accepted his plan.
Yuichi took a deep breath and steeled himself for what he knew must come. He had been a part of the mafia for as long as he could remember, but now it was time to turn his back on it all for the greater good.
