Tick… Tick… Tick…
The clock in the classroom was ticking in sync with the sounds of pencils moving across the paper of the work we were assigned. I turn my gaze towards my sister, Mya, who sits beside me.
“It’s almost time.”
“No need to remind me. I’m just as ready as you are.” Mya is an interesting girl to say the least. She’s smart and cool but can be extremely harsh and cruel in certain situations, especially towards me. One thing for sure is that she is popular with everyone in the school. A lot of guys are attracted to her and some girls are jealous of her having black and red hair. It’s usually short and very messy but it suits her attitude perfectly.
Just as she spoke, the bell rung out its usual harmonic melody. I grab my backpack and Mya walks beside me out of the classroom. We’re heading to the back of the school where our target is located. Shinjitsu High is a fairly large school with approximately over 500 students. Having that many kids in one school makes the hallways really crowded and difficult to make it to classes on time. But in this case it’s making us getting to the back of the school at a set time very difficult. I start shoving and pushing people to make my may through the bustling hallway and make it to the stairs.
3 Minutes Left.
I jump down the flight stairs and run outside of the exit. While rushing to the back of the school I realize that I left Mya behind. I start wondering how mad she probably is at me, so I wait for her to make her way to me.
2 Minutes Left
Hurry up…
“You left me behind asshole!” Mya shouts with pure rage.
“Thats the least of the worry right now! We have to hurry!” I grab her by her arm and take off running to the back of the school.
“I didn’t give you permission to grab me!” I ignore her comments as we make it to the back of the school 1 minute earlier than our target. I let go of Mya’s arm and start catching my breath.
“This is my first time at the back of the school. It’s pretty dark and bland back here.”
“You fit in pretty well with this area if I’m being honest.”
“Are you saying I’m bland?” I say with an irritated face.
“Would I be wro-.” Mya is abruptly cut off by the sound of steps approaching us. We both look to our sides trying to figure out where the footsteps are coming from. Soon, two students come around the corner. One of them was our target. He was a so skinny it looked as if his body would fall apart just from tapping him a little too hard. His skin was pale like snow and his hair was oddly white.
“Seems like we have some guest here.”
“And you seem like a Deceit.” I say as I take off my backpack. A Deceit. They are falsified humans that have been starting to grow in the population of the world. How they got here? We don’t know, but we do know a lot about how they work. They take a human form to disguise their true forms and they try their best to fit into society as much as they can. Deceits specifically kill humans for food and oddly, sacrifices.
“Oh boy… he must have ratted me out. How sad.” The Deceit suddenly sharpens his fingers and thrust them into the head of the student that was beside him. “Hope that didn’t give you a headache fellow student.”
“Well that settles it then I guess.” Mya pulls off the white glove from her right hand to reveal her fully black arm. She reaches into it with her left hand and pulls out a large black and red scythe. I kick my backpack and it turns into a katana with a black blade and a grey tsuka. These are our execution weapons. They are specially made weapons that are able to damage and kill deceits.
“As I suspected, you guys are executioners. This day couldn’t get any better!” The deceit has large spikes emerge from its back. His eyes turn purple and his grin gets wider. “I kill people like you on a daily basis. I’m guessing you guys are part of the DES?”
“Lets spare the questions for later. Your kind doesn’t deserve to have the privileges of speech.” Me and Mya start dashing towards him in unison and go for a strike but the deceit blocks it with his spikes. We back off of him and go for another attack but he starts lunging his spikes towards us. We jumped onto the spikes and ran towards him.
“Clever.” The deceit says as he bends the spikes towards us. We jump a far distance away from him.
“How the hell are we gonna get an attack on him? You got any ideas Daitan?” I start thinking of possible solutions. While I was thinking, he starts hurling tiny spikes in our direction. One of then graze me as I jump onto the wall of the building. He started lunging spikes at us again and we had to keep running.
He has flexible spikes that seem to be able to stretch for a long period of time. They are also able to bend the spikes flawlessly which is impressive for a low level deceit. And thats when a light bulb went off.
“Mya, attack on cue!” With no objections, she nods and backs away as I keep running.
“Lets see if you can keep up deceit boy!” I start producing electricity through my body so I can speed up. I start spinning in a circle around him while the spikes are also spiraling him. I pick up the pace more and more as he sets up his own death trap. The spikes almost has us tied up.
“MYA, NOW!” I shout. Mya jumps towards the deceit with her scythe now coated in her blood. The deceit looks up at her in shock as she beheads him with ease. I fall onto my back with my katana in hand. We did it. Our first execution. Mya inserts her scythe back into her right arm and puts her glove back on.
“You didn’t even land a blow. Why are you so tired?”
“Putting your body through so much electricity can hurt a lot. I thought someone as smart as you would know that.” Mya smirks at my comment and carries me on her back.
“Look.” I turn my head towards the deceit. His body is disintegrating. I've never seen a deceit die so this was my first time seeing the sight. It was satisfing to look at since we were the ones who took it own. My vision starts fading away and I close my eyes.
