Description
Mistybelle longs for freedom beyond her sheltered herd, but her first steps into the wider world plunge her into a conspiracy as old as death. Shadowbranch, the elusive God of Death, chooses her — and only her — to locate his missing fawns: Premur, Thanovar, and Terminelle, embodiments of the final stages of dying.
Their disappearance has thrown nature into chaos. Animals linger in suffering. Spirits cannot pass. Shadows cling to the living.
As Mistybelle begins her hunt, another faction moves in secret. Gloomgrove, a brooding stag with a haunted past, leads a group whose intentions intertwine with the fawns in ways Mistybelle cannot yet see.
Between the vanishing fawns and the rising threat of Gloomgrove’s herd, Mistybelle must uncover what truly happened — or watch the boundary between life and death collapse forever.
