"How do you want to live?" The voice of God who spoke to the small ball of light asked.
One could see the small blue sphere floating in the clouds. This blue sphere is a spirit who's life was taken unjustly and so God wanted to gift this spirit.
The voice of the spirit spoke to the God. It remembers its life before dying and it was a life where he always thought of others without fail. Doing so only resulted in constant betrayal.
"I want to live a life where I no longer feel kindness to others. I wish to live for myself." The spirit answers without hesitation.
"A life without kindness. I won't reprimand you for wanting such a life. Be reborn and do whatever you wish. I promise in your new life, even if you kill, you will not gain sin." The God spoke.
The spirit felt warmth as God shone down a bright light upon it and said, "In the world you will reborn in, magic exist, so I will bless you with a skill. Go. Live the life you wish."
And then God sent the spirit beneath the clouds into a new world of fantasy where magic existed. Through the lands the spirit floats and floats. It drifted through kingdoms and saw things that were no different from which he came.
Even in this world, betrayal, pain, and death existed. The spirit continues to drift throughout the lands until he reached a barren land which showed no signs of life. Above what seemed like a palace that sat upon a tall mountain. The spirit was drawn into a small window of a tower on top of the palace.
It traveled through the empty halls and until it reached a room made for royalty. There sat a throne above some stairs and the spirit was now floating above it. Because the spirit was slumbering, it had no idea what was happening as it began to take shape.
The shape became that of a small figure with a child-like appearance. The skin was pale, white as snowflakes. The child's hair was just as white as the child. And judging by the face, the child was apparently male. While he looked human, the child had the blood of a demon.
He stayed floating above the throne without movement and as naked as can be.
Elsewhere, inside the palace, someone is walking quickly through the halls and opens the doors to the throne room. That person sees the naked child floating above the throne and quickly removes one of the curtains from the windows.
The child's body slowly drifted down to the throne until he was now sitting on it. His eyes opens slowly to reveal eyes as red as blood and the first thing he sees is a man knelt down to one knee before him.
At first he was confused as he studies his surroundings. It looks like the inside of an old run-down palace. It's in pretty bad shape. He could see the worn out wood floors, the walls were cracked and the paint chipped. There were no signs of life besides the strange man here.
The man had a dark red skin color and his ears were pointed. And, the boy's eyes stares at the long thing protruding from the man's behind. It's a tail. He clearly has a human's appearance, but he was not human. What was he?
The man suddenly spoke, the voice calm, clear, and deep, "If I may." He says holding up the curtain suddenly. The child blinks, wondering why he had removed one of the curtains. He looks down at himself.
But the fact that he wore no clothing was not what disturbed him. It was the small body of a child's. Still, he grants the man permission to cover him with the curtain. Before he knew it, he was wrapped with the worn out curtain and the man returns to kneel once again.
"Bring me a mirror." The child demands.
Without hesitation, the man leaves and returns a minute later with a floor mirror and sits it before him. It was as the child thought, he had not only been reborn as a child, but those eyes were clearly not human.
The man clears his throat, "I can see the Lord is confused. Should I explain to you the situation?" He asked.
Right. This man was from this world, he should be able to learn more about this situation from him. The child nods.
The man stands and bows with one arm behind his back and the other placed to his chest, "it is a pleasure. I am the butler of this palace, Rallmul. I am a devil who used to serve the former demon king a hundred years ago."
That explains why he didn't seem human. "What about this world? Where are we?" The child asked.
"This world is known as Irthdom. And we are located in Demon's Territory. You have just awakened as the newborn demon king of this territory." Rallmul tells him.
Demon King? Him? Now that he mention it, he didn't feel human. This was definitely God's doing. If he wanted to take away his kindness, then a demon was the perfect choice. It's a lot to take in, but he got what he wanted. He should forget about his past life and live the life he wants, just as God told him.
A new life means a new name. Before he came here he was known as Rou Shi. "I understand, then why don't you give me a name. As I don't have one." The child says.
The man showed shock to be given such an honor, he could cry tears, "Yes, My Lord." he says.
Rallmul took in the lord's appearance and thought that he should name him something that matched his pale white skin color. He suddenly thought of the perfect name, "then the lord should be named, Demon King Alban." He says.
Alban. What a good name. "What does it mean?"
"It means white. Because the lord's skin is as white as snow." Rallmul answers.
"I like it. From now on I am known as Alban." Alban says in agreement. He suddenly remembered the last thing God had told him.
"Rallmul, this is a world of magic, am I correct?" He asked.
"That is so, My Lord." Rallmul answers.
"How does this world discover skills?" Alban asked.
Rallmul understood that the lord wished to see what skill he was born with. "If it's to view one's skill. We use a Magic sphere." He answers.
Alban was glad, he orders Rallmul to retrieve one. He wished to know the skill God had blessed him with. Moments later Rallmul returns with a dusty magic sphere that has not been used in a hundred or more years.
He explained to him in order to find out what skill he was born with, that he had to touch the Magic sphere and then pour in some of his mana. Following the instructions Rallmul gave him, Alban placed his small hand on the sphere and slightly poured in some of his mana. It began to glow a pitch black light. This light filled up the entire throne room.
Rallmul knew that the skill his lord possessed far surpassed the highest rank. It was the birth of the most powerful Demon King in history!
Inside the sphere one could see a black game-like screen, Rallmul could also see the contents of this screen and explained that it was a profile.
Profile Contents:
Name: Alban
Race: Demon
Title: Demon King
Level: 1 (0/100)
Evolution Stage: Low-Rank Demon
Mana: 95/100
Skill: Hero Summoning (SSS) - The act of summoning heroes. 50 mana is used to summon heroes. 5 percent chance to summon a higher ranked hero. The higher your level, the higher chance to summon a higher-ranked hero. Note: In order to summon a hero, think of the type of hero and the summoning shall begin.
Rallmul immediately bows again, "Congratulations, My Lord. You have gained a powerful skill!" He announces.
"Are heroes considered strong in this world?" Alban asked handing him the Magic Sphere.
"Indeed. If I may be honest. Demons do not have such a skill. It's impossible for our race to summon heroes from another world. Heroes are only summoned by mages with the divine light. If it's ever found out that My Lord has this skill. All of human race will be rushing to kill My Lord." Rallmul says worriedly.
Then it only made sense to keep such a skill from leaking out. "My Lord, I have a suggestion that should appease to you." Rallmul says. In order to protect his new lord, this suggestion was the only way.
"Let me hear it." Alban says.
"With the state the Demon Territory is in, I think the Lord should focus on helping it flourish. Right now, we are in a dangerous situation with no way to protect ourselves." Rallmul points out.
He's not wrong. "I understand. Then how big is the Demon's territory?" Alban asks.
"The Demon's Territory is approximately 1000kms of land. It will take eight to nine hours to reach the border. It's enough for now, and we can expand it by claiming nearby land later." He answers.
It was a great idea. In this new life he became a demon king. The kind he read about in a manga. If that's the case, why not enjoy his life as he see fits? He'll rule the Demon's Territory the way he wants, and protect his new home.
"I'll go with your suggestion." Alban agrees.
