Divine Amulet

EP. 1-5 REWRITTEN

EP. 1-5 REWRITTEN

Aug 26, 2023

Let me tell you a story, my dear children…

This is a story about a girl, a long long time ago…

It all started on a sunny afternoon, in a magical medieval world.

A homeless wanderer, an outcast was walking down a path in a forest.
He was alone, humming a happy tune. He had been an outcast for two years now.
He spotted some berries, ones that he could eat, and walked to them. He ripped them off the plant they were attached to, and put them in his backpack.
When he continued walking, he started hearing crying from deeper into the forest. He noticed the crying didn't come from any path, and he went to investigate. He walked off the main path, into a more dense part of the forest. To his surprise, he found a small rowing boat with a baby and a purple top hat in it, stuck on some branches in the water.

Meanwhile, not very far away, a woman stepped out of a cave. She was wearing a white t-shirt, gray jeans, and a white-blue futuristic looking jacket. She was looking for the hat. The hat that the homeless traveler just found. She knew everything about the hat, and she knew its powers. The one who put on the hat would become the most powerful magic user ever. They would be able to control the environment around them using their mind.
This woman knew that because she had seen it before. She had seen dimensions being corrupted and destroyed by this hat. And she didn't want to let it happen again. She looked at her digital watch, and used it to scan the area around her. The watch showed her where the boat with the hat on it went. So, she started walking.
Meanwhile, the homeless man who found the baby had grabbed her out of the boat. He had ignored the purple top hat, and was walking with this baby to a nearby town he spotted while walking through the forest.
He did find it odd that this baby was accompanied by a hat.
He didn't think about it too much and arrived at the town. Its name was Dalvadus.
He walked up to the guard that was guarding the entrance gate and said "I found this baby on her own in a river. I saved her, but don't know what to do. Will someone in this town take care of it?" The guard looked at the baby. "Give it to me" he said in a nice tone, and the homeless man handed over the baby. "I'll find someone to take care of it. Thank you for saving this baby" the guard said to the homeless man.
"I'm sorry that I can't grant you passage to passage to Dalvadus. Letting an outcast into the city would cost me my job, even if you saved someone." "I understand it" The homeless man replied and he walked away, back to the place where the boat and the hat were.
After nine minutes, he reached the river. He stood next to the boat and opened his backpack. He grabbed the purple top hat to put it in his backpack, but as soon as he touched the hat, a chill ran down his spine.
His mind started filling with thoughts of power, murder, domination and might. He got scared, and he let go of the hat and took four steps back. ‘That thing is cursed’ he thought to himself and he closed his backpack, put it on his back and rushed away in fear. He wanted to get as far away from that thing as possible. After an hour of traveling and collecting berries, the homeless wanderer came to a halt. He noticed a comfortable looking spot where he could spend the night. He sat down in the grass between some branches, and opened his backpack. He grabbed berries out of it and ate them all. He then grabbed a cup out of his backpack, and placed it next to him. It was evening, and the wanderer was tired. He laid down on the grass and closed his eyes. It didn't take long before he fell asleep.
During the night, while the wanderer was sleeping, the woman was still walking, following the route that her digital watch showed to her. ‘This stupid boat went really far. I've been walking for three fucking hours.’ she thought to herself. She looked at her watch again. ‘Is this thing even showing the right boat?’ She pressed some buttons on the screen of her watch and scanned the area again. "Fuck!" She said, as she realized she was following the wrong route. She had been going the opposite direction this entire time. She threw her watch in the grass. ‘I'm too tired for this right now.’ She grabbed her digital watch again, and called someone. "Hi Janet." The person on the other side of the call said. "Hi. I'm coming back to go to sleep. I went the wrong route. I'll continue tomorrow."
The next morning, the homeless man woke up from his sleep. It had rained during the night and the cup he placed next to him was filled with water. He got up, took a sip of water, and squeezed some water out of his clothes.
He was afraid.
He had dreamt about the hat last night. He dreamt that he was forced to put on the hat, and that he became the ruler of the world. In his dream he killed everyone in his path, and destroyed all kingdoms except for his own. He dreamt of power the hat could give him. But he decided to ignore his fear and take a walk. He went to visit the town he went to yesterday, Dalvadus.
He wanted to see if the baby he saved was healthy.
After walking for a bit and plucking some berries on the way, the homeless wanderer arrived at Dalvadus. He approached the entrance gate, but the guard stopped him from entering. "Hey outcast! Go steal from another town" The homeless wanderer noticed it was a different guard than yesterday. He had been treated like a thief all his life. He was exiled from his hometown for a crime he didn't commit, and for two years long, he had wandered the wilds, all alone, with nothing to keep himself clean. And after two years, he did look like a thief.
"I am not here to cause trouble, or to commit crimes" the wanderer said. "I saved a baby yesterday and brought it here. I gave it to a guard who said someone would take care of it. I wondered if I could see if the baby is doing okay?" The guard's eyes widened a bit. He smiled. "Ah, that must've been my friend Thomas. Follow me."
After six minutes of walking through Dalvadus, the wanderer and the guard arrived at Thomas' house. The guard knocked on the door. "Who's there?" A voice was heard from inside. "It's the outcast who says he saved the baby yesterday!" The guard responded. The door opened and behind it stood Thomas, the guard from yesterday, holding the baby that the homeless man saved.
