Oliver stood and looked at himself in the mirror. He felt powerful. Even mysterious? And definitely sexy. He raised his already arched brows, pouted his shiny lips and did a sort of shimmy to get his breasts back where they belonged.
Oliver was a drag Queen. He was due on stage in fifteen minutes and planned to spend all fifteen (or at least fourteen and a half) staring at himself.
He was gorgeous. Shiny golden hair flowing up into a high wave before cascading down his shoulders. Black lashes fluttering, glossed lips popping and of course cinched for the gods.
His low cut turquoise dress showed a generous helping of chest, his and his fake boobs. This meant you could see his scars. He dabbed some more cover up over it and readjusted his boobs once more in another well practiced shimmy.
Oliver was transgender. Yes he knew some people were baffled by the notion of removing breasts just to add others or his choice to keep his hair in a severe buzz cut when it wasn’t a high shiny bouffant. But this was who he was. He was a Capricorn, he was on the short side, he was transgender and he was a drag Queen. He was Oliver.
He was also Anya Neese. A fiery, mostly blonde haired Amazonian, in 6 inch platforms and plunging necklines. She cackled rather than laughed, strode rather than walked and she thrived rather than survived.
Life had stripped Oliver of some of his luster. Years of doubt and harassment had left him feeling drab and small. Incapable of making so much as a wave in the great ocean of life. If Anya Neese was a great shark, Oliver Readman was a minnow.
“Are you coming hon?” a voice called from behind Oliver. He turned smiling after one last boob shimmy and lip pout combo. “Yeah I’m here!” He walked towards the source of the noise, Dina Mite. A towering queen with pale skin, rolls of fat stretching her tight dress and a huge, bushy beard. She was magnificent. She was also Oliver (and Anya’s) best friend. “Ooooooh you’ve put extra effort in! Who are we trying to impress? That bear that looks at you like you’re made of honey?”
Oliver burst out laughing, hoping that his makeup hid his blush, he shoved Dina playfully and cackled when she stumbled in her heeled boots. “Excuse you” he laughed “every time I get up on that stage I look flawless! And I do it for me”
“Okay baby, whatever you say” Dina sniggered. “Come on, it’s stage time”
Oliver breathed in and held it for a second and Anya Neese strode out of the dressing room, somehow seeming to dwarfing the bearded beauty to his left despite their 6 inch height difference. This was where she belonged.
