A young man with a pale face and shrunken cheeks lay quietly on the hospital bed surrounded by tubes and machines. A ventilator was attached to his throat for breathing as steady heartbeat echoed through the room. It was as silent as it could be. The entire room was enclosed in a transparent capsule-like thing.
The doctor, who was wearing a protective suit, stood by the bed and glanced at the notepad. He sighed and put it back, saying to the middle aged couple standing on the side, “Sir, I'm sorry. Your son can never wake up.”
A middle aged young man looking frail and pale, felt choked up in his throat. Tear drops gushed through the corners of his eyes as he glanced at the capsule and then toward his Alpha husband.
“H… Husband…. What am I hearing…..?” The man wiped his years as he took sharp breaths, almost on the verge of a panic attack. “No… this can't be.”
Contrary to him, the man standing on the side remained calm and composed. He still had his military suit downed on his entire self, making him look extremely ferocious, especially with a purplish, brownish mark that covered up his right cheek. His cold glance swept past the youth inside the capsule and finally landed on his partner.
He snorted coldly and said, “That's what happens to waste. He never had any talent to begin with, and from his birth, he wasn't able to awaken his beast, still living as if he were a puny, little human. So weak. Tsk. Certainly an ugly cheek among us Thornes! He doesn't even deserve to be called an Alpha!”
“Husband!” The frail looking man shot up a cold glance at his husband and said, "He is your eldest son! An alpha! So what if he hasn't been able to attain beast form?! So what if he's still immature even at the age of twenty?! The fact that he is a Throne is still not negligible! He is your blood! How can you say something like that to him?!”
The military man didn't say anything and turned his heels, walking towards the door. Before leaving, he said, “You have a month. If he doesn't wake up, we will take him off the ventilator.”
A month?!
The frail looking man’s heart sank. He knew it wasn't possible. After all, his dearest son has been through a very tough battle as an ordinary soldier against the zerg army. The battle ended up damaging the majority part of his brain. The fact that he could still get a chance to say goodbye was already enough.
Seriously…. What else was he expecting….?
From the entire army, only his son ended up becoming a vegetable. Among all the soldiers and generals who went off that day, only his son, who wasn't even fighting directly one on one against zergs, ended up becoming injured.
As the primary Omega partner of the Major general, he knew his son's time was up. Unless a miracle happens, his son is set to die.
In any case, the young man didn't have any talent and would always sit at the back, not talking to anyone. In fact, his little son was a little bit slower to respond to others, making him a little bit autistic.
So the frail looking man knew a month extra with his son was already a mercy and a show of affection. If it were those Alphas who liked ordering their Omega around in his husband's place, he knew his son would have died already.
The frail looking man walked over and put his hand covered with white gloves over the youth’s, choking up at the thought of letting go.
Let go? How can he let go?
He just can't…
This was his dear son!
“Orion….. Son… your dad is sorry….” The Omega couldn't hold it anymore and burst out crying. “I… you're this way because of my poor genes…. I'm sorry!”
He thought the youth wasn't hearing his words but in reality, the youth was wide awake, just couldn't move a finger! Not even opening his eyes no matter how much he tried!
Dad! I am awake!
Orion wanted to speak those words out loud so much so that his brown hair stuck to his temples as beads of sweat rolled down his scalp and neck, making it feel a little bit itchy.
He has to move! He only had a month left to live! If he doesn't, he would truly, surely die!
He has woken up for a while now. At that time, he was a little bit disoriented, not understanding where he was and not even remembering what his name was. Only when a familiar man called out his name, Orion, did he realize that was his name!
Bits and pieces of memories returned to him, giving him a slight headache. He was still disoriented, but he knew the person standing beside his bed was his dad!
He felt a little bit choked up in his throat. He didn't remember much of his life, and even his name, Orion, feels strange. But no matter what, he could still remember what his Dad's voice sounded like, what kind of close and parental feelings his dad made him feel.
And the fact that he has to leave his dad all of a sudden…. Despite amnesia, it still made him choke up.
Only, he can't even react to choking up because his body was paralyzed.
So, what should he do to wake up?
Just as he was trying to move his fingers again, his entire head felt heavy all of a sudden. His eyes, already closed, pressured him out of the blue, forcing him into a deep sleep.
It was as if him walking up briefly was merely a dream.
