Here I try to remember what happened in this place that felt most like a dream, but was nonetheless as real as one could be… bzzz… bzzz… there is static over my radio! bzzz… bzzz… bzzz… bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz–
Dialogues were too blurry to be accurately retrieved.
...“It’s a beautiful place, really. They’ve got Seacows down there.”
We trekked over a landscape of green grass and white fences. We might have been on horses, from the looks and feels of the pace which we moved and the rocking motion. Then we reached an area that felt straight out of a movie set in Europe, South America, or Africa. The sky was so bright it blurred the world, casting a warm yellow hue on the sandstone arches. I might have seen an ocean through the entrance of the main arch, but my eyes were mainly glued on the view above.
But once I entered, everything was so blurry. Two people in front of me, one with short neon green hair and the other, long and blue(?) were playing on the beach. Some strange hue.
To the left, huge red Seacows–a combination of seas horses and cows, they kind of looked like ocean-themed mooshrooms from Minecraft–were being moved by the Jellyfish people. The Jellyfish people had purple toned skin and hair, far away and talking amongst themselves. I couldn’t hear. And I thought that was because I didn’t know their language and the waves and winds made hearing them even more impossible.
But suddenly, one of the largest and closest Jellyfish people began to approach me. I think he was their chief, because he had the appearance and this air about him that demonstrated an impression that he were above you. As he walked, the angle of his torso and head did not move. He was trying to communicate with me, but once again, I could not hear anything and thought it was due to the language barrier between us. His hands and face shuffled through a series of motions and expressions, too many for me to be able to fully catch. At one point, he opened his mouth in the shape of an “O” and put his finger to his lips. I replied back by pointing at my ear and crossing my arms into the shape of an “X”. All the while, he walked towards me and I walked backwards, away from him, shaking my head.
Then, he held his hand up in the shape of an “O”. At this, I began to panic and frantically spoke in English that I did not understand what he was saying and wanted him to stop whatever he was trying to do. At this, the Jellyfish man smiled. It was a terrifying smile, somehow because it was so human—the way his skin stretched on his purple toned almond-shaped face. But it was not quite as terrifying as the realization that he understood me. All along. And the fact that I was lured there, and was aware of it. And I only allowed it to happen because I thought I could get out easily if I simply wanted to.
I had been walking backwards at the same pace as him, up until that point, but the shock and need to escape made me lose my footing. He began to close the distance between us. Then I woke up.
...
I think it’s clear what this dream was meant to represent: A situation a person walks into, thinking they have the power to walk out of it whenever they feel, only to discover that is not the case. When people deceive you and corner you, it can come as a shock and mess you up in ways that leave you unable or less able to flee.
Real talk: I know my dreams that night were influenced by a music video (where the skies were a bright white that blurred the world) and a series of Kane Pixels videos I had watched not so long before I fell asleep. That explains it.
