Description
I have never stood among the normal people.
There, I said it, no one else has to.
I know what my father’s DNA was mixed with to create me, I’ve known since the day I figured out those scribbles were language and read the report hanging next to my room at the center. I was aware of it when I tore out my tracker, killed multiple guards who harmed those in their care for fun, and caused millions in property damage. I knew it as I fled through alleys covered in rain-slick trash, felt it as I launched myself up the sides of buildings to escape along the rooftop road. Smelled it in the rush of air across my face as I stepped backward off the ledge near the opera house and plunged hundreds of feet down into the shocking cold ocean.
Cold became warm, water all I needed to breath for the first time in my life. Limbs shocked to life protecting me, letting me weave through rocks and pounding surf as I swam south. Exhaustion took me as I followed the current, one of the family rising from the depths to swim alongside and later carry me curled around her dorsal fin as we moved further away. A humanoid and a backpack, a predator and her belly full of young, we headed south. Warmer waters where the babies could build up bodies that could survive the colder climates north.
I knew freedom for the first time in my life.
I have a tablet someone abandoned and I'm using it and a hotel's wi-fi to explore more of the world than what we can swim to these days. I want to share my story. I don't want humans to continue to destroy my home. I don't want my father- who, or whatever it is- to wake up (no one wants that.)
Ask me a question, that's how this works, isn't it? You ask and I'll answer. Or just write about my life.
