Falsity

Chapter 1: The Start of a Scandal

Chapter 1: The Start of a Scandal

Mar 16, 2025

Falsity is described as the quality of being untrue, deceptive, or misleading, a kind of betrayal Milo had never understood until the 23rd of October, during peak fall.

His phone's bright light illuminated the dark room, it was 2am and like the worthless, jobless man he was, Milo was scrolling through the latest pictures he had acquired of the photoshoot of his favourite idol Noel Markou. A few presets later (cause bless that man, he didn't need anything more with skin that clear) Milo had posted it on his account- @Markouholics.

Noel Markou. An idol who debuted at the age of 16 as part of a group 16Teen, and despite disbanding soon after, went on to become an award-winning actor and well-loved model in the industry was considered quite the golden boy. Milo had been starstruck ever since he had met Noel at a fan meet-and-greet. They shook hands, exchanged a few words and those words became the cornerstone of Milo's fanboy life. Shortly after, he started a fan page on all social media platforms and was one of the few that sustained long term even after a lot of the other fizzled out.

Milo took his job as admin of Markouholics very seriously, which in his job when the manager of Noel himself occasionally reached out to him to publish special announcements. Still, as the years went by, Noel's celebrity status became larger than life, an unrealistic idea and a far-off dream.

Now Noel was booked pretty much all year round, expanding from Korean to American TV, collaborating with various artists and exploring different things, His newest drama, "Call it What you Want" had been nominated for the "Best Actor" award and the "Scene Stealer" award categories alongside his co-star Soha Baek.

Milo was on her account, screenshotting some pictures she had posted from behind the scenes of Noel when a notification of a new post popped up.

Trigger Warning: Assault, Power Abuse

I never thought I'd say this. I never thought I'd be that girl—the one who speaks up, the one who breaks the illusion. But I can't keep this inside anymore.

Fame hides a lot of ugly things. People worship idols, but they don't see the truth behind the smiles, the carefully curated PR, the power they hold over people like me. I told myself for months that maybe I imagined it, that maybe I was overreacting. That's what he wanted me to believe.

But I wasn't overreacting. And I wasn't the only one.

I can't describe the fear of being alone in a room with someone who thinks they're untouchable. The way they laugh when you say no. The way they stare right through you, like you're just another disposable thing. And the worst part? The world loves them anyway.

I thought I could forget. I thought I could move on. But then I saw his face everywhere—on screens, in songs, on billboards, acting like nothing happened. While I was breaking apart, he was moving on like I was nothing.

I don't care what happens to me after this. I don't care if people call me a liar. I know what happened. And so does he.

And if you still support him after this, you're part of the problem.

Milo frowned and immediately went to the comments. Did something happen to Soha? It was a worrying idea, especially since Soha was an experienced A-list celebrity and if someone had the guts to mess with her, they probably weren't good news. He scrolled past the comments section, trying to find proof of claims or any possible hint at what the situation was and how it was being handled when he came across another post link in the thread.

I wasn't going to post this, but she's hurting while he gets away with it. People need to know what kind of person Noel Markou really is.

----------------------------------------------------------

Milo felt his world tilt on its axis as he read and reread both posts again. A minute later, Milo heard a notification of activity and took a screenshot on instinct. A minute later the action had been undone but Milo had seen it clearly. Soha had briefly liked the post before taking it back in a split second, as if done by mistake.

This was crazy. There was no way. There had to be some kind of mistake.

He scrolled down to the comments that were all- predictably- extremely harsh.

----------------------------------------------------------

@sophiec_92 – How do people like this keep getting away with it? Disgusting.
@emilyrae – I feel so bad for Soha. She deserves justice.
@maddie_xo – Another day, another 'good guy' showing his true colors.
@realtalkrj – Bet his next single is called 'I Swear It Wasn't Me.'
@livforgossip – Where there's smoke, there's fire. Too many red flags.
@jaydenkmusic – I used to play his songs on repeat. Not anymore.
@tashareacts – I can't believe I ever supported him. So disappointing.

----------------------------------------------------------

What happened? Was this a smear campaign? But Soha herself had spoken up about it and as far as he knew, she was as genuine as one could be in the entertainment industry. Did Noel make a mistake then? But through the tone in Soha's message, it didn't just sound like a mistake, it sounded like something pretty fucking massive.

There was only one way to find out. Milo searched up Noel's manager's number and sent a quick message.

Just saw Soha's post. What happened?

Usually, he didn't reply for hours since he was a busy guy, sometimes even days. But he was the only one who would have an idea about what actually happened since Milo of all people knew that tabloids and media in general could not be trusted.

Until then, all he could do was wait.

Milo spent years running the biggest fan page for Noel Markou-until a scandal turned him into public enemy #1. No trial, no proof, just the general public tearing him into half.

Accusations, viral threads -Milo believed it all. But when their worlds collide offline, the truth isn't just complicated... it's nothing like the story the world has already decided.
