One of the greatest mysteries that hides inside the life of the Universe is the creation of the World, a world in which name echoes the destiny of its own inhabitants: Moirae.

Blessed by a pure type of magic called Aether, life started sprouting in this newborn world, covering everything in a sparkling blue halo, as symbol of its own presence inside every beating heart. The source of this blessed energy was a heart-shaped core that floated in the middle of the sky, the so called Kardia, through which magic was generated and released.

In this ancient era, humans, animals and every other being lived in peace and harmony with magic, obtaining wisdom and longevity. However, the situation slowly began to change as soon as people understood how to use magic as an instrument to achieve their own interests.

Many people started to study magic, analyzing its flow and experimenting with the rules that lain within this mysterious type of energy. School of magic were founded and mages were born. The entire society grew rapidly, achieving deeds that were believed impossible only a few years before: magic provided the world and its population with everything they needed thanks to its multi-purpose use and unlimitedness. It was said, wrongly, that humanity had reached its highest peak and nothing more was left to learn about magic and further researches were suddenly abandoned.

It was around the same time that some of the most powerful mages gathered to Sonalgav, the richest and most beautiful city of the age, as well as the capital of the whole world. Here they founded the Geheim, an elitist brotherhood apparently focused around the veneration of magic but that, in secret, resumed the ancient studies that were abandoned years before, inside the walls of a castle that, shortly thereafter, became the Imperial Palace. Sun Wukong, also known as the “Celestial Sage” and the most powerful among all mages, took command of the Geheim, proclaiming himself Emperor of Moirae and establishing a new monarchy in Sonalgav, an empire that suddenly started a ferocious conquest of all the neighboring areas.

A few years later the Geheim made a discovery, one that shook the very foundations of the world: a very powerful being, the god of Moirae, who resided inside the Kardia while spreading his own magic, the Aether, to all the living creatures. From the sky he governed the land above him, ensuring the flow of time and life itself. This was for sure the most beautiful and terrible discovery of all history: the mages of the Geheim were terrified and decided to hide the news from the population, thinking that this revelation could have brought disorder and revolution upon the newly founded monarchy, stripping them from their powers and privileges.

No one had previously thought about the existence of a God and suddenly envy and greed were born inside the hearts of the mages. For months Sun the Sage closed himself inside the palace, refusing to receive visitors and abandoning his duties as Emperor. People started complaining and slowly many skirmishes began to light up within the empire’s territory. Everything was falling into chaos when something happened…

One night, a dark figure cloaked in darkness, with white eyes and black wings, appeared at the Imperial palace offering a plan to help the Geheim. No one knew who this mysterious shadow was, but certainly he wasn’t human and many mages started called him “Demon”.

After many months of preparations, the plan was finally ready to be set. Thanks to the mysterious and powerful magic of the demon, a deadly miasma began to spread through the population, slowly stripping people of their magic source and inevitably leading them to death.

Fear began to subjugate the masses and it was at that moment that Sun and the Geheim made their move, telling people that a malicious God had taken over the Kardia and the whole magic, making people suffer and die. A military response was needed and Sun himself, followed by all the mages of the Geheim and many civilians who decided to take up the cause, started their expedition towards the Kardia.

Everything was ready for the crusade of justice to free the empire from the god’s curse, but nobody knew that everything was just a lie set up by Sun himself in order to kill the God of Moirae and take his role as the absolute ruler of the world. Inevitably, those very envy and greed born in ancient times would have lead humanity to its own destruction.

After a long and exhausting voyage, the promised day finally came: Sun and all the mages had arrived in front of the Kardia but everything that followed that moment is, even today, untold to men. Nobody ever returned from the expedition... However, the facts that followed were carved with blood in the hearts and memory of every being.

A strong rumble shook the lands, the impetuous wind crushed everything, destroying houses and covering the ground with deep fissures that swallowed many people in darkness. The sky was dyed in crimson red and black drops started falling on the plagued world, now divided in two parts that will never be reunited.

Thousands of people lied dead, with the face strained in a sorrowful expression. In the silence, a suffocate cry, a distant voice, breathed is last word: “Betrayal”.

On that same day, from unity duality was born and two signs appeared in the red sky: a black Ouroboros, formed by the flow of dark magic, and a gold Phoenix, manifestation of the white magic.

Through chaos and death the world shall be destroyed and once again reformed under the light of justice and peace.
