Her paws hurt so much. She had been walking for days, or at least long enough for the blood to dry. Everything was hurting and throbbing, but there was no way she could stop. If she stopped, they would find her, and they would do terrible things to do. They wouldn't let her live if they captured her again. She just had to keep moving forward. So, she wobbled along, one paw barely after another. She walked until her paws couldn't anymore. She fell to the ground and closed her eyes, hoping not to open them again. Death would be better than going back to them.

They could all feel the intruder at the pack line, and border control was there immediately. That's when the pack got the report; a young pup had crossed the northern border. This pup was skinny, bleeding, and probably close to death.
The pup was sent to Marissa first, her being the pack's Theta. Teresa was there to help her carry the pup. If it weren't for the pup's chest's small rise and fall, Teresa would have thought the pup dead.
The gray fur was dark with blood with patches ripped off. One of her legs was ripped open almost to the bone, scratches lined her body, and someone had torn off the tip of the pup's ear. Teresa nudged the pup gently, but there was no response. She was completely out of it. That means they could do what they needed without the pup freaking out.
"Teresa, get the wash ready, we need to clean her to take care of her wounds. Watch out for the leg."
The woman nodded and carefully moved the wolf. She was at least too light. Malnourished, damaged, and probably traumatized by something. What happened to this pup?
*
It was so warm and comfy. She was definitely in heaven; no way would she be comfortable like this out there in the world. It even smelled better than the woods. Just how she imagined heaven to be like when she died. She was tired, though, something she didn't expect. And she couldn't open her eyes. Why couldn't she move her legs?
"...to do. The pup won't wake..." It sounded female, soft, and kind. Who else would be here with her?
"...eventually. Any record...?" Another she-wolf, she was starting to doubt she was in heaven.
"...just needs rest..." The first she-wolf again, and she knew that she was alive.
Why couldn't she be dead! If she were dead, she would be safe from them. If she woke up, she would have to keep running. She was just so tired of running.
The she-wolves continued talking, by she didn't focus on them. Her leg was starting to hurt again. Why was she in pain, anyways?
*
"...long time now...ill she wakes?"
She could hear the voices, but she still couldn't move. Where was she? Why couldn't she remember anything? The last thing she could remember was a man with evil eyes. What was going on?
Her heart started racing as thoughts continued filling her head. She had so many questions, but there weren't any answers to satisfy her.
"...heart rate increasing."
Then she felt cold. Cold made her feel pain; she knew that much. Her eyes snapped open as she started howling and barking. She had to get the cold away!
Soon after, the cold left her, and she finally got her eyes to open.
It was too bright; everything was blurry. Two figures were leaning over her, and she tried to get away from them. Her legs weren't moving, why couldn't they move! The figures were going to hurt her!
"I know you are scared, but please-"
The figure closest to her was interrupted by the door bursting open and two large men running into the room. The pup was startled by the noise and more figures coming in. She couldn't breathe, her heart was racing, and she couldn't get away from them. They were all talking, but she couldn't hear them.
Fear built up inside the small wolf's body as she wiggled away from the danger. She was suddenly falling, and her vision went black when she hit the ground.
*
The next time the pup woke up, she was able to open her eyes right away. It was still bright, but things in the room weren't blurry. This time, no one was with her. She was safe.
Calm once more, the pup took the time to look at where she was. The room was white with silver things all around. She was on something soft that was also white. Was everything in this place white?
Letting out a yawn, she felt something on her ear. She pawed at it, but the thing wouldn't come off. Realizing that she could move her legs, the pup tried to stand. The problem this time was the thing around her back leg.
White stuff covered her leg and parts around her belly. Her fur was cleaner, but the things were restricting her.
Leaning down, she tried to get the white stuff off her leg, but it didn't move. Instead, her leg only hurt more.
"Finally, you are awake."
She looked up at the figure and growled out. It was one of the figures from earlier. They must be the ones that put the white things on her and trapped her here.
"You are just so cute. But don't you go eating at your bandages."
The pup growled softer and tried to walk away from the figure but couldn't move quite right with the things on her. She wouldn't be able to escape if she couldn't walk.
"I will explain everything in just a bit; I just need you to shift back for now."
Shift? She decided to ignore the figure that spoke confusing words. The figure even looked weird. They walked on the back legs, not all four. They only had brown fur on the head and not all over her body. Why wouldn't you want fur for warmth? Instead of fur, they had other things that covered her body. It was even white, like the rest of the area—Strangest wolf she had ever seen.
"Are you listening, dear? I just need you to shift. Do you know how to shift back to your human form?"
Deciding that she didn't care for the wolf anymore, the pup went back to biting the things on her leg. Slowly, they started to tear away from her leg.
"Don't do that, pup!"
The wolf came over to her, but the pup was quickly growling and snapping her jaws. She wouldn't let anyone hurt her. The wolf backed away, holding her paw to her body.
"I know this is confusing, but I need you to listen and just nod or shake your head. Okay?"
The wolf was going to keep bothering her if she didn't respond. So, the pup nodded and laid her head on the soft thing she was laying on.
Seeing that the pup was going to listen, the woman started explaining. She talked about being wolves that can shift between a human and wolf form. She spoke of packs led by the Alpha and that every wolf had a human soul and a wolf soul. None of it made sense; she was just a wolf, nothing more to that. Still, she laid motionless. It felt good to rest.
Just as the human was ending her talk, the door opened. The pup jerked up and let out a snarl. It was another human that looked like the one that was talking.
"Marissa! Why didn't you tell me she was awake?" The human walked over to her but stopped by the pup attempting to bit her. The human only smiled and went to the human called Marissa.
"I'm sorry. The pup didn't know anything about werewolves, so I had to explain things. Still, I don't think she believes me. She doesn't seem to know anything about us, which makes me wonder."
Both humans continued talking to each other, and she looked between the two of them. They seemed to be arguing, but not really. Like play fighting with other pups. Strange, even humans have play fights.
"I'll let you talk for just a bit before I do my exam. She can't shift, so just ask yes or no questions."
The second human came over the bed, and the pup let out a growl. They were too close. She wasn't sure why, but she didn't want any of the humans touching her.
"Hey, pup. My name is Teresa; I work with Marissa to help sick and hurt pups like you. How are you feeling? Do you feel okay?"
Teresa opened her mouth to show her teeth, and the pup snarled back. This human was dangerous; someone not to be trusted. Instead of answering, the pup looked the other way and laid down.
"Did I say something you didn't like?" The pup didn't respond.
"Is your leg hurting you?" The leg in mention twitched.
"I bet it hurts. When we found you, it was ripped open; we could almost see the bone. I have no idea how you walked on that leg for so long."
Why was her leg ripped open? The pup couldn't remember why she was walking or why she was so scared. But she trusted her instincts, and her instincts told her to be wary.
"I bet you don't like the bandages. Sadly, those must stay on. If the wound got infected, it would be ten times worse." Marissa spoke this time and came back into view.
The two continued talking as Marissa tried to get too close. The pup didn't like how the human kept trying to touch her with her paws or strange things. The pup growled to protect her self, barking and biting at anything that came too close. The human eventually stopped, and the pup let out a successful yip.
"You really didn't make this easy, huh pup." Marissa showed her teeth, and the pup let out a whine.
The humans weren't happy anymore. Both showed their teeth within the last while. They were probably going to hurt her more because they are now mad at her.
The pup watched the humans, weary of them in the room with her. She was startled when they just put the small tools away; it was like they had given up. How strange.
"Well, since we can't get an exam done, we can't report. I'm just going to go meet up with Tyler."
"Have a good night, Teresa. We will probably try again later; one the pup is more comfortable with us. I'll check the others before I leave."
With that, the two humans left. Tired from fighting the tools and paws, the pup let out a yawn. She was safe now with them gone. She could take a little nap and be awake when the humans come again. With drooping eyes, she gave in, and the pup finally fell asleep.
*
Someone was chasing her. She had to run faster, faster! She had no idea why, but she knew that if she didn't get away, bad stuff would happen. So, the pup kept running, knowing the danger was right on her heels.
Teeth grabbed her leg, and she fell. Red eyes stared into her, and she let out a howl for help. Then paws were holding her, shaking her. The wolf had caught her! She was going to be hurt, and then die!
*
"-t's okay. Come on, darling, wak-."
The pup jumped forward and bit her attacker, knowing she had got them when a scream followed. Knowing she was free, the pup fully woke up. Right then, the door was thrown open, and another human entered. This one was different, taller, and larger than Marissa. This one was scary.
The pup pushed herself until she was at the head of the bed, as Marissa called it. From there, she was able to watch as the human moved through the dark to the attacker. The human picked up the attacker and left the room without another word.
Safe once again, the pup rested her head and slept peacefully for the rest of the night.
*
When she woke up, she was alone again. For keeping her prisoner, these humans didn't watch her very well. One would think that they would keep a human with her so she couldn't leave.
Well, since there weren't and human's around, the pup was going to leave. She had been here for too long and was ready to keep running. Running saves your life; staying still will get you killed.
The pup used all her energy and managed to stand, dragging the injured leg behind her. She hobbled to the edge of the bed and fell forward. There wasn't another way to get off from that height.
She paused on the floor, pain no radiating through her small body. Her ear was hurting again, and her leg was feeling strange. Like someone was poking her over and over with something sharp.
The pup ignored the pain and crawled to the wall where the humans had come from earlier. It looked like the rest of the wall, except there were two little things that would most likely make it open.
Someone was watching over her because at that moment, the wall opened. Before the human could even notice, she walked through the human's legs.
Now the area was different—Brown like the trees in the forest. Sunlight was coming through a hole, and the pup went in that direction.
After hopping onto a ledge, the pup could look through the hole and found out that she was not on the ground. The ground was very, very far away. It made her head feel light.
"Pup, come here, honey."
Someone had found her. She was expecting a little more time before the humans realized she was gone.
Turning around, she recognized the human Marissa. She was by the moving wall with her paws out. The strange thing was that there was white stuff on her hand, just like the white stuff on the pup's leg.
"Pup, you need to come away from the window and come here. We don't want you getting more hurt."
As if. Humans, other animals they all caused pain. Everyone lives to survive, and no one cares if the other gets hurt in the process.
"Please, Teresa, and I really just want you to get better. We don't want you to be hurt or in pain. I bet your leg is hurting."
Now that she thought about it, it didn't hurt anymore. It didn't feel like anything.
"Let me help you, and then as soon as we heal you, we can let you go. I promise."
The pup didn't care for the human and fell off the ledge on her own. She stood up again and walked forwards as if she was going to go to the woman. Then the human bared its teeth.
At the last second, the pup turned and hurried down the other hallway. Before the pup could make it far, someone picked her up.
The pup felt the ground disappear and started wiggling and biting at whatever was holding her. Instead of flesh, it was squishy and didn't taste very good.
"I'm sorry, pup."
There was a pain in her neck, and the pup was suddenly very sleepy
