Forgotten Fate

Start of a New Destiny

Start of a New Destiny

Aug 01, 2026

1772, April 15, Balton, Zortan County, Rein Empire

Moonlight loomed over a bleak warehouse near the Attenburg Dock filled with empty storage crates, where a young boy slept on a cold, hard floor, clinging tightly to a torn blanket. The boy’s movements were abnormal, constantly twitching and shifting while showing a twisted, grimaced expression on his face, as if he was experiencing a nightmare. His forehead showed droplets of sweat that slowly trickled down his face. His abnormality only grew more and more intense as if he was going to mutate into a monster, but a moment later his eyes suddenly widened. He gasped for air, panting, plastered with a terrified look on his face.

“My head hurts!”

“What is this pain!?”

The boy screamed in agony, his eyes closed shut again as the brain-twisting pain churned his mind. With no clue why this was happening to him and not wanting to keep being tortured by this agonizing pain in a miserable life, he reached inside his pocket for a knife that he always carried around. Just when he was about to commit suicide, the throbbing pain in his head lessened, and he could finally think consciously.

“What the hell was that…?”

“It’s like a sharp object piercing and twisting inside my brain…”

“Did I get infected with a brain disease?

“At such a young age!?”

Just when he felt despair and anguish from the thoughts of dying at a young age, he realized the situation that he currently lives in. He was a child who was abandoned on the streets, who lived a life devoid of warmth, shelter, and food, who had no connection to anyone, who constantly got battered by drunk haggards while sleeping, and someone who had given up hope on living in this cruel and unforgiving world.

“It’s not bad to die after all; I’ll accept it as a train ticket out of this place.”

A dimorphous smile plastered across his face, and he started laughing manically, tears rolling down his cheeks…

“Indeed, it’s not bad”

A mysterious woman's voice entered the boy’s ears.

“Who’s there!”

Residing in an abandoned warehouse, the boy didn’t expect anyone to be there in the vicinity. The sudden voice made the boy’s heart skip a beat, but what really frightened him was that the voice was really close, as if it was spoken right beside his ear. The boy surveyed around him, but found no one there.

“Did that pain in my brain earlier cause me to hallucinate?”

The boy pondered this possibility.

“No, this is not a hallucination.”

Hearing this, the boy instantly became extremely alert. He clenched the knife tightly in his right hand.

“Don’t be frightened, I’m what you can say a… god-sent helper. I have embedded myself in your mind and am part of your subconscious thoughts now. I have been spectating you for a while and can see that you live a very desolate and wretched life. Therefore, I will impart some of my divine powers to you so that you may use them to survive, in addition to eliminating the corruption that persists in this world and… discover what’s hidden behind your fate. By the way, your name will be…Falkon. Alright, my time’s up, so that will be all from me, bye! Good luck out there!

The mysterious voice subsided, and the boy stood there dumbstruck, not knowing what had happened.

Wait! Wait! Wait! Don’t go yet! How do I get in contact with you again? Who’s this god that you serve? What do you mean by corruption? What is hidden behind my fate? Hello? Hello?

There was no response other than an awkward silence in the air. The boy was left behind with a series of questions unanswered.

“Falkon…what an unusual name.”

Just when Falkon was still getting used to his name, a heavenly golden beam of light appeared in his vision, and his mind was again churned like a meat ground into bits. He screamed in agony, his hands pressing against the sides of his head. After a few moments, the pain resided, and Falkon collapsed onto the ground, eyes closed, and the silence of the night inhabited the warehouse once again…
