The valley was silver with flecks of gold. When a full moon came, it illuminated the valley making it look like the sun. This place is named Heartfelt valley, my home. I do not have a name, but this is will change because today is my naming ceremony. I am, in human terms, 19 years old today. Not only do I get a name today, but I also get a physical human body. Today I will graduate from being a tree sprite to a human. Not everyone in Heartfelt valley gets to become a human, so it is quite an honor. Those who are chosen to become human have the strongest amount of spirit energy. This makes the transition to becoming human a lot easier. Those who become human have the task of protecting the valley.
This is no ordinary valley and it needs to be protected. This valley houses thousands of spirits, sprites (like myself), fairies, pixies, dryads, and many more. They each are tasked with specific jobs. My usual job of giving energy to plants, to make them grow, ends today. My new job will consist of me being a Rose Warrior. As I said before, I will protect the valley. My title states that I shall protect the roses of the valley. The roses of the valley are the most important part of the valley. Each one holds a human heart. These human hearts belong to humans in the human world. We call this world Manua. In Manua, there are people of importance like Kings and Queens. We have to be extremely careful with their hearts. If something happens to their hearts a lot of people will suffer. So being a Rose Warrior means that sometimes I will have to go to Manua and fix an important heart in person.
Anyway, back to the present moment. I believe I am being followed though I have no idea why. You see technically I am second in line to be the leader since my grandmother is the leader. So, most spirits avoid coming into contact with me to avoid angering my grandmother.
I continue at my pace and take several turns. I then turn and meet my follower. Who I see will change my life forever. Today was supposed to be the most wonderful day of my life, but it turned into the most horrible day.
