Green eyes, Blue skies

School was always easy for me, but I did have a secret. I had graduated high school 20 times already. Yes. I am 150 years old. You would expect someone that old to look ancient. Thankfully I don't age, being a vampire. But it is hard to explain why I don't "look my age". That is why I prefer to stick to the shadows with my nose in my book.

I was bit at the age of 16 and left to go through it myself. No one told me what was going on so for a whole month I went around at night, sucking blood from people until I was able to finally get control over my cravings. I decided to go looking for a community of my kind who didn't believe in drinking without permission. Becoming a vampire was the hardest thing that ever happened to me. Having uncontrollable hunger wasn't what I wanted.

Once I found them I finally had people I could talk to, friends that I had things in common with. But I still felt out of place. Then one day, I met her. A blond with bright green eyes and always had a smile on her face for everyone.

I was walking to my history class like I did every day. I was slightly more sad that day than I was most days and it was clearly visible on my face. She looked at my with a worried expression.

"Are you okay?" She stopped me and asked.

"Yes." I said holding my breath, expecting her to notice what everyone else did. I clutched my books tightly to my chest and let my long dark hair cover half my face. Maybe if I covered my pale face she wouldn't notice my dark red eyes.

"Are you sure? I don't mind listening." She smile at me and put a hand on my arm.

I instinctively pulled back and clenched my jaw. I could smell her blood standing this close. Her heart sounded so gentle and steady. I cleared my mind and sighed. "I'm sorry. I don't think you will understand."

I shrugged her off and continued walking down the hall.

"Wait!" She followed me. "I'm sorry if I invaded your space or pushed a boundary, I just want to make you feel better... I don't like seeing you sad."

I bit my lip. She didn't like seeing me sad? "What are you talking about? I think you have me mixed up with someone else..."

She clenched her fists at her side and puffed out her chest. "No I'm not." She's cute when she gets defensive. Wait no! I can't think like that.

"Can we talk some other time? I really need to get to class-"

"Skip with me." She blurted out. I was taken aback by her sudden outburst.

"I can't miss class...." I started to say but she stopped me.

"Oh come on. It's just this once. I know of a really good frozen yogurt place just down the road..."

"I don't really like frozen yogurt." I replied and clenched my books closer to my chest. "But I do like the park down the road... If you don't mind cloudy weather."

She grinned at me. "Not at all."
