The room was noisily quiet. It was thick with the smell of blood, sweat, pain , and survival, as the midwife moved from one position to the other trying to conceive the royal child. For a reason best known to them, she had all the other girls wait outside and locked the door, leaving only her and the queen.

“ I can see the head, she said sweating using her hands to widen her vigana to make it easier for the baby to come out

“Ahhhhh” the queen screamed in pain, gripping her bed tightly as she used all her remaining strength to scream, pushing the baby out.

The baby didn't cry out after she was born which made both the queen and midwife surprised all of a sudden. Her skin was pale, and she wasn't breathing at all except for the fact that her eyes were wide open and she was moving.

   Ignoring the pain in her legs , she took the baby and checked her and the both of them exchanged glances.

“She's not human,” the midwife said surprised, using her hands to cover her mouth. “ You and I know his Majesty would kill her once he got a whip of this, what kind of a being is this, my lady what have you done” she cried out.

“She's a vampire” she said with a straight face and the handmaiden gasped.

“Shush” the queen used her hands to Indicate for her to shut up “ I cannot allow the king to know about this, no one must know except you and I that she doesn't belong to the king and that is an order “ she said glaring hard at the maiden and made her swear that she wouldn't tell anyone ever.

“ Now do you know any witch that can help me hide her powers and strength? Nobody must know that the daughter of the only human king is a vampire, their enemy.

And within a few minutes now , his Majesty will barge inside after sensing that he's not hearing my voice again, I need to do something quick “ she stood swiftly, her whole body in pain but her mind was much troubled.

“Yes I know someone “ the handmaiden said “ she lives in the outskirt of the town, now we just have to bring one of the girls in and instruct her to keep screaming like she's in labor with the door locked so his Majesty won't suspect anything till we come back “

“That sounds perfect “

The queen said , using clothes to cover the baby while cradling her in her back. The handmaiden went outside and came back a few minutes later with a lady and a long coat that had a cover so no one would see her going outside. After leaving instructions for the girl, the both of them set out.

They successfully slipped out of the pack by using the secret chambers, and after few minutes of walking hurriedly and cautiously, they arrived at the witches place 

“ I knew you'd come” said the witch smiling after seeing the both of them “ it has already been written, her faith, her future, and I know what brings you here today”

“ Since you already know what I came for so you should know what you can do for me right” the queen asked impatiently 

   

      “ The king must not know that this child isn't his, you know the kind of hate that's between the human and the Vampires, I was already pregnant before his Majesty came to marry me but I didn't have a choice if I wanted to save my life, my daughter's and if I didn't want to embarrass my father. 

Moreover,I thought it was impossible to give birth to a non human child but I guess I was mistaken” 

“ Everything you seek for here comes with a price, the princess must not only lock her powers and urges, you and I both know the growth of a human is different from that of a vampire. 

I am going to lock her vampires part away but I can only do that for at least till she's 30 yrs, for people would have been suspicious of her then if she's not aging.

     “ It's not going to change who she is," she added ,but it's going to make her blend with the other humans not for life but for the mean time, I believe by the time she finds out she's not human, the creator would help her through it” she witch said with a straight face.

   “ Also before I help you with what you want,you have to sacrifice something to me and once you are able to sacrifice that…

No one , not even a vampire hunter would be able to detect what she is, unless she gets really really close.

  “ So what is that, what do I have to sacrifice for you to help me” the queen asked, staring at the witch keenly.

  “Your life”.

CHAPTER 1

Hundreds of years ago, before the war between the Vampires and humans, the world was ruled by two different powerful species. The Human, and the vampires.

   

  The humans living in their world, ruled by Marcus Altherion, the King of the humans. They had a separate land with a lot of resources, with brains that didn't make them an outcast in the species world.

Then the Vampires. Ruled by Kaelinor, the emperor of the Vampires. Unlike the humans that are the same and have the same characteristics, the Vampires are of different births and ranks.

   The Highest ranking are the full bloodied. They're the strongest, fastest and ruthless of the Vampires. The full bloodied are the offsprings of only vampires with no human ancestry which made them extremely strong and they're mostly in the royal families or high ranking officers. 

   The second Ranking are the half bloodied. They're also strong as vampires but less to full bloodied because they're the combination of a vampire and human and it is often made by birth.

 

     Then the last ranking which is the fledglings. These are humans that are turned into vampires and they're the lowest ranking. Superior to humans, but less stronger than the bloodied.

Marriages happen between the two species, a vampire getting married to a human and they rearing children. Their common enemies were the witches.

Ever since they found out that the witches have the power to possess and control both the human and the Vampires mind,take away their powers and even still create any weapon that could destroy them, any witches found around were killed with their family.

Dianna, a human princess at that time , made a family with one of the princes of vampires, zarek. 

The plan was to turn her once they got married but Dianna hesitated insisting that she would only turn when she's aging for the fear of having human blood on her. 

They got married, gave birth and had the best life until Dianna started aging. The love they had for each other got them engrossed that they completely ignored the fact that she's human. When it was time to turn her, Darek couldn't, only to find out that she was lamia. 

       Lamias are normal humans that have blood that is poisonous to vampires and is more deadly than vervain.

 She started having wrinkles, getting weaker, her beauty fading slowly. 

       They both panicked, they knew it only took a matter of time before she died and they both didn't want that. Dianna didn't want to leave her children behind and her husband didn't want to lose the love of her life as well.

     

  Even though it is forbidden and anyone that is caught will be beheaded immediately with their family according to tradition, they know the only person capable of helping them is a witch .

     “ So where do we want to find a witch now, Dianna asked her husband the fateful evening they were having the conversation “ you and I both know almost all of them has been killed, the rest has gone into hiding, i don't think it's possible, and even if it is, you know it's too risky, I don't want you endangering your life for me”

   “Shhhh” he placed his index fingers on her lips to shut her up. “ But what if it's possible?” 

   

        He said holding her hands, 

“i have someone that can help me look for them, i will do whatever it takes my love,not to lose you, Not to lose us, we have gone through far worse situations together and I don't plan on giving up on you, i care about you so much”

     he said, kissing her forehead slowly and she could only sigh and nod her head gently hoping it turns out well.

As he had promised, the prince instructed his most loyal and trustworthy servant to look for a powerful witch in secret. They may have been killed and burnt, but he's sure there are still some out there in hiding. 

    After a few weeks of waiting endlessly, the servant came back and reported that he had identified a witch at the far end of the human land. He had to stay there and monitor her closely and he'd come to report now once he was sure. 

The prince nodded and thanked the guard, instructing him that they set for the witches' place at night.

         “ I can take care of this, the guard and I will go alone,i don't want to put you in harm's way” he said to her before leaving, reassuring her that he will be back and besides someone has to stay with the kids.

     “What has brought the royal prince to my abode at this time of the day?” the witch asked, going on her knees immediately after sighting them. 

The prince ignored her and gestured for the guard to open the door and he went inside sitting on the maids bed 

       “I know you're a witch, you are quite smart and brave I must say, living here with the humans and blending with them “ the prince replied immediately smirking at her as the witch followed them in.

     She went on her knees immediately “I have no idea what you're talking about my lord. A witch? I'm just a human going on about her life, please spare my life” she replied rubbing her hands together, her whole body shaking.

  The prince sighed and raised her head up staring at her in a commanding way “I'm not here to kill you, in fact I'm not here to interfere with your life as well, i just need a little favor from you”

She went numb immediately and definitely wasn't expecting what he had just said. Having an idea how witches and anyone that becomes acquainted with them are killed brutally, it is rather surprising that a royalty would want to perform witchcraft.

But she decided not to press more, at least to save her life. “ So what would you have me do for you, your highness? She asked.

“My wife”....... “She's a human and I want to change her to a vampire” he said causing the witch to look at him confused.

“But that is the easiest thing a vampire can do, my prince. You……

“She's lamia” the prince cuts in immediately “i won't be here if it was possible to change her, my wife's blood is extremely poisonous” he added 

“Ooh I see, lamia’s are not so really common so I didn't think the legend was even true” she said sighing, already understanding where he was driving at

“So you want to use witchcraft to turn her to a vampire”? She asked staring at him keenly and the prince nodded 

“Do my lord know the gravity of what you're asking me, turning a human into a vampire with witchcraft is a

not an easy task to do your highness, coupled with the fact that her blood is very strong. I might get beheaded immediately if I'm caught doing this….

“Either you help me with this and I ensure you go on living here as a human or you refuse and I make sure you experience death in the most gruesome way” the prince cuts in threateningly.

She looked away from him and gulped down fearfully, clearly understanding that the man in front of her wasn't here to play. Before she could even cast a spell he would have snapped her neck into pieces and full bloodied vampires are like……extremely worse when provoked.

“I'm going to need the blood of a full bloodied vampire for that kind of ritual and it is….

“I already know all these things you are telling me, can you do it or not? He asked dismissively 

“I can do it “ she replied determinedly,not afraid anymore since he was the one that needed her help “but it's going to cost you a lot of things and risks my lord” she said to him 

      She asked, squinting her eyes at him and the latter replied yes immediately. He already knew what he was signing up for when he made the decision in the first place.

“So what is that? What do I have to offer you to change my wife? He asked her keenly, not taking eyes for a second. 

   “A full bloodied. But this time not a small drop of blood but we have to drain every ounce of blood on the bloodied body. This is the only way to change a lamia. And since compelling a vampire is not possible you understand what we have to do after that right, she asked cautiously 

“ Take advantage of his weakness and kill him” he replied 

    “ But how is that even possible”? The prince asked 

He unsheathed his sword immediately and placed it on the witch's neck. “Are you trying to insult me right now, you know every full bloodied are royalties. How do you expect a half bloodied person like me to bring them here? Sweet talk to them? Or what? He roared annoyingly.

     “Please have mercy” the witch said shakily “ that is the only way you can change her , onily a blood as strong as a pureblood (full bloodied) can change a lamia to a vampire because if we use your blood or any other common blood, it's likely to backfire and she end up losing her life” she replied 

       The prince sighed and pulled back his swords

“It's not about being a pureblood that's the problem, am sure I'll find one among the people, it's bringing the pureblood here that's the problem, they're ten times stronger , also I'm not sure Dianna will be willing to spill an innocent blood, that's why she hadn't turned all these while” he rubbed his head frustratedly.

“Is there no other way, do we have to kill the pureblood after draining his blood, especially in front of my wife? He asked 

I'm afraid there isn't my prince” the witch replied now standing up from where she knelt “But I can make a charm for you to entice the pureblood, Only recite the words when you're sure he's one and once his head starts hurting, you'll knock him down and bring him here” 

“And as for your wife, you'll know how to go about it” she replied shrugging 

    “She might take it good more than you even think”she said “it's not like vampires can feel sympathy like that” she murmured but loud enough for him to hear 

The prince didn't reply immediately, thinking hard about how to go about it .The only reason he's having a rethink about this decision is he knows if he gets caught, prince or no prince he's getting beheaded immediately alongside his family for plotting with a witch and he doesn't want that. Moreover he doesn't trust the witch but he doesn't have any choice than to comply If he really wants to save his wife, does he? 

“Is the spell available at the moment?” He asked immediately, earning the witch attention who smiled at him sweetly.
