Author's note: I'm taking a hiatus from this series while I work on uploading Down to Rest!
Amrys expects two things to happen any day now: her magic to appear, and Brenin to announce his intentions to marry her. At sixteen, she feels like the last girl in the village to be intended.
But when King Afon sends his raiders and slaughters her town, Amrys barely escapes with her life. To stay alive, she disguises her identity, conceals her gender, and takes a position as a servant in the royal household of King Wther Pendragon in the neighboring kingdom of Caerleon, serving his son, the heir to the throne.
Amrys soon discovers her problems are far from over, however. King Wther has forbidden the use of magic, and Amrys has a terrible time of controlling hers.
To make matters worse, she finds herself falling for the one person in the kingdom she can never reveal her true self to:
Prince Arthur Pendragon.
