Hoof beats pounded on the dirt road as a small horse cantered quickly, urged on by the young boy riding him. The horse hurried toward a large plantation, passing workers caring for animals and tending fields.
"Come on Shadow," the boy encouraged his horse.
As the pair entered the plantation, the horse was slowed to a trot. Several workers on the plantation greeted the boy warmly.
"Hi Henry!"
"Nice day for a ride,Master Henry."
"Hurry home safely, Master Henry."
Henry trotted Shadow towards a large manor house with a horse stables next to it. As they approached the stables, Henry slowed the horse to a walk, and then a halt. Dismounting, he led his horse into the stable and tied him in his stall. The boy unsaddled Shadow and brushed him. After putting the horse tack away, he saw his family's head groom by Shadow, checking the horse over and finishing up for Henry.
"Hello Master Henry," the man greeted the boy. "Good job taking care of your horse. I'll do the rest, your father wants to speak with you.
"Thanks Mr. Jones!" Henry chirped and headed out of the stable.
