Jessica's POV
Here I am standing outside of my "crushes" house (Also my worst enemy.) I'm trying to pull a prank on him. It's a silly prank really. I think it will be hilarious. We've been basically pranking each other for years. Ever since we were small we've hated each other. It's for a stupid reason, but we aren't going to go into much thought on that. It's pitch black outside and the only lights in the house are the kitchen light and Leon's. (Yes that's his name. It sounds like neon. It makes me laugh every time I think of it.) I see someone pull up and hide myself. It was Demi Evens. I knew she would be over.
The whole prank was to sabotage their date. I can't believe he's going out with her. I try so hard not laugh. I snort and she looks my way. I move down into the bushes so she can't see me, but I can see her. She's gorgeous to some people, but to me she's disgusting. I hate the way she acts and I hate the way she looks and the way she dresses. It disgusts me. I'm not jealous. Although Kendall does think I am. She's the one that thinks I have a crush on Leon. I used to, but not anymore. He's too much of a jerk for me to like him or even love him. (I almost throw up at the sound of that.) Kendall's my best friend and also happens to be Leon's sister. I heard that Demi is afraid of loud noises like gun shots. So I set up speakers in the bushes around the house and when I press one little button it goes off. I laugh to myself and push the button
Leon's POV
I'm driving home in the dark with my girlfriend beside me on her phone. We had just came from a fancy restaurant down town. The food was great, although it would have been greater if Demi would've stopped complaining about the food every few seconds. If JJ was here instead of Demi, she would have scarfed the whole plate down without asking or complaining about it. I laughed at the thought of it. Demi turned to look at me. I can tell she was confused. "I was thinking that's all." I said and turned my attention back to the road.
When we got to my house I could see someone standing in the bushes, but couldn't make out who it was. "Are your parents home?" Demi asked. "No, but my sister is." I say and she looks sad. I drag her in and get some ice cream from the fridge. Strawberry ice cream is my favorite. JJ really likes it to. I know a lot about her, yet I feel like I don't know enough. I've been trying to make a truce with her for a while now because I feel like we need to stop being children. We're already juniors and I'm done with acting like I hate her. I obviously don't, but she acts so oblivious I don't know if she's playing with me or not.
I take my mind off JJ and turn around to see Demi walking to my room. "Why don't you put the ice cream down and come kiss me." Demi says. Sometimes she makes me cringe, but I love her, well sort of. I've been second guessing Demi right now. I forget about everything and walk over to her and kiss her. She's a rough kisser, but is a good one. She pushes me on my bed and gets on top of me. That's when I hear the loud noise that sounded like a gun shot. Demi jumped off of me and practically ran to the window. Demi has a fear of loud noises like gun shots and explosives.
That's why on the 4th of July we never do fireworks anymore. She hates them. Demi and I have been dating for three years and I've been wanting to call it off for two months now, but I'm to chicken to do it. "Take me home." It's not a request. It's a demand. I pull out my hand for her to take it and she does. I pull her outside and pull her into the car. That's when I hear another gun shot noise. No one was there. Then I spot someone in the bushes. I can see the figure in the light. Long cylinder body, bright red wavy hair, fair skin, rosy cheeks, and bright blue eyes. I knew who it was with only just a little light. Jessica Miller. I was mostly relieved to see her here, but angry that she pulled a prank on me. "JJ! Get in the house! I'll deal with you later!" I yelled.
Jessica's POV
The front door opened and I could see Demi's eyes were filled with horror. I smiled. My hand slipped on the button and Leon's head snapped my way. Shit. "JJ! Get in the house! I'll deal with you later!" He yelled and I almost cried. I stomped my way up the steps. I could feel Demi's eyes on me the whole time. I found an ice cream container with strawberry ice cream in it. I grabbed it and a spoon and walked down the hall to Kendall's door. I tried opening it, but it was locked. She's probably sleeping. Oh well. I'll just steal Leo's room for now. I lay there on his bed eating ice cream and scrolling through my phone. I didn't even realize the door opened when someone took the ice cream from my hands. I turned around and saw Leo. "Leo what the heck!" I screamed. "Wow! Your finally calling me Leo and your in trouble miss!" He screamed back like he was my mother, although my mother is never around and my dad left me when I was four, so I don't really get yelled at much. He sighed and then said.
"Look... I've been thinking and we need to stop these pranks." I just looked at him not knowing what to say. "You caused Demi to break up with me today and I'm done acting like a child," he said and I got so angry at him. "You think that's my fault. I can tell that your trying to hold back a smile because you've been trying to figure out a way to break up with her and now that she's done it for you, you don't have to risk getting someone's feelings hurt." I say and he looks at me astonished. "Okay fine. You got me. I'm sorry, but can we please have a truce." I hesitated and then jerked my hand out. Instead of taking my hand he hugged me and I just stood there like a lifeless bird not knowing what to do.
