If you didn't know, I love playing video games. I mostly play Nintendo games, but im trying to branch out a bit to pc games. I have always liked video games, whether it is online website games such as cool math games or console games such as Mario kart. I got a 3Ds in 2012, and i think that was the true beginning of my loving games. My family got a Wii and we played together as well. Games were honestly kind of a staple of every kid in elementary school. i remember during free time everybody would play games on cool math. most of the girls like games such as fireboy and watergirl, so they could play with friends. The rest of us, we were more attracted to things like wheely or run. It was awesome, we would talk about them at lunch and recess and play whenever we could. In 5th grade, some of the guys figured out how to put Minecraft and geometry dash on the school laptops. I didn't get either, i don't remember why but i didn't. Then hit middle school. Suddenly, most of the girls didn't want anything to do with video games. Those that did really didn't show it. I can't seem to remember any girl liking games anymore. They still occasionally played cool math but that was about it. i managed to ask a guy who still had geometry dash if i could copy it on to my laptop. He was super nice about it and let me do it. From then on, it felt like nobody really talked about games anymore, except for the guys and sports stuff. Even now, in 10th grade, my friends don't really like video games. My best friend even goes as far as to say she hates them. I don't really take offense to it, i mean everybody has their interests. I just don't understand how anybody could hat video games though. Is it because some people get addicted to it? is it because you just like being active more? Maybe they don't even consider them to be real games. I just don't get it. then i wonder, well, why do people LIKE video games? For fun, duh. But, I started to think a little bit more about it and honestly, i like this answer better. This may not be true for everybody, however, i think most people like games because they allow us to escape. Games allow us to be somebody else for a little while. They provide us an adventure to live, puzzles to figure out. Games let us live somebody else's lives just for a second, and just let all our fears, stresses, and worries go away. We can be the hero, we can save the princess, we can build a world, we can be the winner, we can be the villain. With games, we get to experience a little bit of another life. Games allow us to escape our lives and have an adventure. I suppose that may be going a little deeper than i meant to. I do think those who like video games feel at least a little bit of this. I guess that's why i don't understand why somebody wouldn't want that. Why wouldn't you like to be the star and get the gold? There are so many other game metaphors i can use. So, why do people hate/dislike video games? Maybe my reasoning for liking games is a bit... um well, dramatic? but i feel that this is at least one of the reasons i play games. Anyways, if anybody has an answer for me, I'd love to know.
