I am Not Supposed to Be in Another World

In Another World with My Mixed-Up Fate

In Another World with My Mixed-Up Fate

Jul 09, 2026

- "Open your eyes, hero. This world is waiting to be rescued by you."

That voice sounds so pure, warm, and divine.
I open my eyes and see her.
She is standing near me. She is wrapped in light. Silver hair, golden eyes, mythical dress.
"Am I in heaven?" I murmur.
"Yes, my child. I'm sorry to say that you've died in that tragic incident."

Yeah, I figured so. But it's more like murdered by mistake.
I get up and kneel before her. "May I know your name, Goddess?"
"How did you know that I am a goddess, child?" Her voice is filled with curiosity.
"Your presence, goddess." I reply, "One glimpse of you, and anyone can feel your divine presence, goddess."
She smiles. "I am Goddess Lyseria."
Goddess Lyseria? Doesn't ring a bell.
She chuckles. "I understand your confusion, my child. You haven't heard of me because you didn't live in this world."
"What do you mean, goddess Lyseria?" I ask.
She replies, "This is a different world than yours, my child. When you were on the brink of death, I summoned you here in this world and healed you."
Okay, that turned to an unexpected direction. I watched many Isekai anime. But I never thought that I would be summoned in any.
I press my palms together and bow my head. I say, "Please accept my pranam, goddess Lyseria."
She says with a smile, "That really warmed my heart, my child. I only heard that people from your world show utmost respect to their deities. But I am not from your world, child. Then why did you Pranam at me?"
I raise my head and say, "I was taught to always respect deities. From my world or not, you are one of the deities. So, I should pranam you, goddess Lyseria."
She smiles and says, "When you pranam someone, you get blessings in return, right, my child?"
"Yes, goddess Lyseria." I reply.
Goddess Lyseria raises her right hand and says, "I don't bless anyone usually. But I am very pleased with your devotion. You have my eternal blessing, my child. You will always remain in good health."
I again pranam her and say, "I am grateful and honored, Goddess."
She says, "Now stand, child."
I stand up and say, "May I know why I was brought into this world, goddess?"
"Of course, child." Goddess Lyseria replies. "You are destined to be the hero of this world, the savior of every good being in this world. That's why, when you fulfilled your role in your world, you were brought here."

Me? A hero? Something is not adding up. A person like me is destined to be a hero?
She says, "What's on your mind, my child? Speak freely."
I reply, "Sorry, goddess Lyseria. I am just a bit overwhelmed, that's all. I never even thought that there would be any importance to my life. My whole life has been full of mix-ups. When my mother was pregnant with me, the doctors suddenly told my father that she needed to undergo an emergency C-section. The operation was done, and I was born. But later, they confessed there had been a mix-up. The surgery was actually meant for someone else. They had mistaken my mother’s name. And that was the beginning. In my entire 19 years of life, I have been a victim of mix-ups so many times that I forgot to count. People questioned me, got angry with me, and even hit me for the things I never did. When they found out about the mix-up, they just said, 'Sorry for the mix-up. You are not the guy.'"
I sigh. Then continue, "Two days ago, some man beat me up and took me somewhere. They were saying that I was disturbing their sister. They didn't even listen to what I had to say. When their sister arrived, she looked at me and said, 'Who is this? You brought the wrong guy.' They didn't even apologize to me and left me near a market."
I look at Goddess Lyseria and ask, "Goddess Lyseria, can you please tell me why all those things happened with me? What did I do wrong?"
She places a hand on my shoulder and says, "Child, always believe in God. Always trust their judgment. Everything happens for a reason. Like you died there just to rescue this world as a hero."
I say, "I guess you are right, goddess. Because my death was the same as usual."
She asks in confusion, "What do you mean, child? You were killed by a contract killer, right?"
I reply, "Yes. But the situation was similar to the incidents I have been through. Today, I was upset because of the recent mix-up. I went to a riverbank to clear my mind. There I saw a young man dressed the same as me sitting on the bench. I hesitated at first, but he noticed me and told me to sit beside him. We talked for a while. He was a nice guy. Suddenly he got a call on his phone and left. I sat there alone. After half an hour, when I thought to leave, a man came to me and told me that he was doing a survey. For that, he wanted to know my name. I told him that I am Arun Roy. Suddenly he pulled out a gun from God knows where and then shot me in the chest. As I was about to die, I saw him talking on the phone, 'Done. Yes, Arun Roy. What? It's Arin Roy? Yes, I am sure, he said Arun Roy. This one even dressed as mentioned. Damn! I killed the wrong guy then!' Before everything went blank, I understood that the mix-up finally took my life."
I sigh and continue with a smile, "Now, I know why my life is full of mix-ups. Because in the end I am going to be a hero because of a twisted mix-up. It's not like God would mix me up with someone else."
I look at Goddess Lyseria, and my body freezes. That familiar look's on her face!
I have been seeing that look my entire life. I am afraid to ask. "Goddess Lyseria, you wouldn't mix me up with someone else, right?"
She hesitantly says, "My child, you aren't Arin Roy?"

I sit down on the floor. Why did I get my hopes up? I should have known better.
She bends towards me and says, "Sorry, my child. There was a mix-up. Arin Roy is supposed to be killed by a contract killer today. He was destined to be the hero of this world. I am really sorry for the mix-up, my child."
I sigh and say, "It's okay, Goddess. It's not your fault. My fate is like this. I am sorry that your desired hero couldn't show up here because of me."
"You don't have to be sorry for that, child." She says. "There must be a reason for this. Now get up, my child."

I stand up and say, "Goddess, since I am not the hero, what will happen to me now?"
She replies, "I can't return you to your world, child. Neither can I keep you here. So I have to send you to my world. Enjoy your life in there, child."
"Won't there be monsters and beasts?" I ask with fear.
"Yes." She replies. But if you stay in human society, you will be safe. You are my responsibility now. So, if you ever fall in any danger and need my help, call out my name three times. I'll save you, child."
I pranam her and say, "Thank you very much, goddess Lyseria."

Lyseria extends her hand and says, "Now, go and live your new life, Arun Roy."
Suddenly, some circles of light appear. They surround me like a sphere. They get brighter. And quickly vanishes.
I find myself in a forest.
That's it? Am I now in another world?
But I don't know where to go!
I sigh and decide to walk forward anyway. It would sure take me a road or something.
The trees are very similar to those on my earth, but bigger. After walking for a minute, I notice a man wearing some kind of armor, standing afar.
My senses are telling me that, it's a sign of problems. I turn to my left. But stumble on something. And in a few seconds, I am surrounded by some men in armor.
They are pointing swords at me. One of them says, "I finally found you! Now come with us. Your majesty is waiting for you."
Ah! How can I get them to understand that I am not the one they are looking for?
