Isn't it odd how people always have the perfect names for who they are? Usain Bolt is the fastest man alive. Albert means noble, bright- and we all know what a genius Albert Einstein was. People named Dick tend to be, well, Dicks. So I suppose, it was only right that Mr. Nathen Moriarty Lewis was a criminal. With a middle name like Moriarty, what else could he be?
And Mr. Lewis wasn't just any criminal at that- he was the leader of the biggest (and only) drug ring in Watertown South Dakota.
They say that if you looked too close he might shoot you in the eye. This proved quite a hassle for the townsfolk, as Mr. Lewis was exactly the kind of guy you stared at. He towered over most folks and was one of two townspeople that had to duck to get into the local corner store (the other being Mr. Huntingson). Mr. Lewis had this vicious spark to his eyes, perhaps a side effect of their brilliant amber color. They would have been beautiful if they hadn't belonged to a cold-blooded murderer.
Mr. Lewis was definitely a sight to behold- perhaps that was what aroused the first suspicion in Miss. Dani Brown, one of Watertown's 6 police officers.
Dani was told to expect a leisurely life when she moved to South Dakota, but of course, no Justice seeker is ever content with "Leisure". Except for Dani, that is. She was probably one of the worst Law Enforcement Officers to exist- constantly spewing wild theories, and spending her free time doing the nails of her two cats.
So one can suppose it was only coincidence that Dani stumbled upon Nathens drug ring one surly Saturday evening. Perhaps you could blame her for thinking the back alley was an adequate shortcut to the corner store. Of course, it doesn't really matter- Dani found it nonetheless. Ten bags of cocaine- which she overlooked under the assumption they were flour- and a good amount of heroin.
Dani promptly stood in place, pondering this odd occurrence, when none other than Nathen himself appeared, trotting around the corner. He sent her a scowl.
Dani smiled in return "Hello there! You wouldn't happen to know who owns these drugs, would you? I've really got to arrest them!"
Nathen stood for a moment- puzzled. He assumed it was quite obvious, but he decided to play along. "No- of course not."
Dani politely thanked him and went on her way.
That was the last time they would meet for a couple of days (Which feels like an eternity in a small town like Watertown). That, however, was the first time Dani learned that her boss, Mrs. Sarah Lee Clarke-Jones, did not appreciate her bringing heroin in without using gloves. Foolish, foolish Dani.
