It's the 1st of March, 2012.
And I'll never forget what he said..
So back in time, 2 days ago.
"I'm headed out to the store. Be back around 3."
"Right, I'm just gonna go to the coffee shop now, meet with Jesse perhaps."
Mom opened the garage and hopped into her shiny new black vehicle, and drove off, and I watched her drive away.
I went and locked the doors, then hopped in my own silver Kia, and sped off for my favorite donut and coffee shop, "Java Jar."
I pulled up, and see my friend waiting for me at a small table.
"Been doing better at your tests, been noticing."
" I do medicine."
"That just.."
Jesse pokes her nose.
"I'm hungry."
"Aight, I'm bouta buy some donu-"
Jesse pulls out some medicine looking stuff, then unravels it, and-
Snorts it.
Like a pig.
"OINK OINK!" She goes, taking the strange liquid in her nose, now dripping down her face like snot.
"oh."
"Yeah, i've been having nose problems too." She remarks, stuffing it away.
I go to the cafe worker, her black hair swishing around to get it out of her eyes. "May I help you?" "Uh, yes. I'd like a.. vanilla latte, extra vanilla and whipped cream, please. And two eclairs." I say, a little awkwardly. She smiles. "Of course. I'll get them for you now." She reaches down, and lifts the eclairs from the case, the shiny chocolate looking so appetizing. She calls for her co-worker, and she grabs a small white cup, and rushes it to what I assume to be the kitchen. I stand around a little vacantly, looking at the menu. What feels like an eternity later, or maybe 5 minutes, the red haired, shorter woman finished my latte. She places it next to the two eclairs, and I hand over the 3.75. I thank her, then turn to Jesse. "Got our eclairs." She looks up in delight, her brown eyes focused only on the chocolate. I toss her one, then she immediately devours it. I sit across her, biting into the sweet treat. I set it down to succumb to the tantalizing coffee's smell before me. I sigh happily, and I drink it, the vanilla hitting me.
After a slightly awkward time at the Java Jar, I drive to my school. Tenth grade, fun. Yes, I had a birthday before the school year ends, shut up, and yes, I'm sixteen. Nothing much interesting happens, you know, until, Zane shows up. Now, Zane's my boyfriend, and I'm so fortunate to have him. He's such a great guy. "Hey, Maize." I stop in the hallway, and turn around to see him, in his slightly tall glory. His charming blue eyes, his blonde hair sticking up, a little ruffled. "Oh hi, Zane!" I beam, looking into his pool-like eyes. I notice he seems a bit more down. "I need to discuss some matters with you, at the end of school. After two class blocks, I guess." He brushes by me, and I gaze after him, confused. After BORING school.. I meet Zane in the garden. "So, what is it you needed to tell me?" I say, hoping the anxiety didn't show in my voice. "Well," he started, a little nervously. "My... my parents don't.." He faltered. I looked at him, sweat starting to build. Was he moving? Was something wrong with his parents? "... They don't like me being with.. you." He looked at me regretfully. I thought I heard a crack. My heart? "B-but.." I start, but he places a hand in front of me. "..but I'm not going to break up with you just because our beliefs are different." He embraces me, and my eyes are wide with shock, starting to tear up with a mixture of sadness and joy, then I close mine and wrap my arms around him. We rock a little as we hug, as rain starts to sprinkle above. He holds my hand, and we walk away from the darkening scene, the storm rumbling softly ahead.
