Ishi Mishimoto, though high-born to a clan of samurai blood, had several older brothers ahead of him who would be the ones, not him, to have to worry about the responsibility of the future, or so he thought. When his maternal grandfather's will arrives from the far isle of Wayan, appointing Ishi the inheritor of his maternal grandfather's estate and title, Ishi leaves home to do the one thing he never wanted to do, to be a samurai.
