It turns out he wasn't paying attention to me or the assignment! He seemed a little distant when I was explaining my ideas, and in attempts to lighten the mood, I cracked a joke... and he laughed! So I thought, YES I'M MAKING PROGRESS! But he said "Yeah! I remember that!" I was confused because that was so irrelevant to my joke.. I followed his eyes and heard the chatter behind me, and he was communicating with his friends majority of the time. Hopefully he would have actually found the joke funny if he was listening... although thats doubtful because I never truely understand the humour of 'cool kids'... oh well :)
