電子辞書を買いたいが値段が高すぎてアメリカから買うのは面倒くさいよなぁ。
Finally, the first strip of "Language Lackquisition" has been released. I made this in December but I wanted to flesh out some stuff for the series first before releasing it to avoid long delays between strips.
For anyone curious about what an electronic dictionary is, it's a device with a bunch of dictionaries installed, mainly Japanese and English ones. They're great for language learning because you can quickly look up any word or kanji with ease. Unfortunately, they're pretty expensive and are only sold in Japan. I really want to get one because there's literally no substitute but I can't afford it at the moment.
Language Lackquisition is a series about an ordinary man who goes by "Doc" and his quest to vanquish the evil that plagues his people's land. That evil is called "Lord Jimaku(字幕王様)" and he has terrorized Doc's kind for as long as anyone can remember with his lies, propaganda, and mind control. Most people have accepted their fate, many believe things are the way it should be but Doc said "No more" and decided to take on Jimaku by learning the legendary ancient language of the Gods and using the power that resides within the words to defeat him. Despite many people telling him it's impossible, Doc remains determined and sets forth to acquire and memorize the ancient scrolls for his mission.
Through many trials and tribulations, he has made considerable progress but Doc still has a long way to go. Throughout his journey, Doc encounters many enemies, a lot of them working under Jimaku to thwart Doc's efforts, like the "school" of the ancient language that turned out to be a hideout for witches that curses any would-be learner with illiteracy and a dependency on Jimaku.
Despite the challenges, Doc pushes forward with hopes to not only defeat Jimaku once and for all but maybe even make a few friends along the way.
なんちゃって(Psyche)!
Yeah, none of that is true. Well, kinda, just not as cool. Language Lackquisition is about a guy nicknamed "Doc" who decides to learn Japanese which is often regarded as "the hardest language in the universe". Despite people telling him it's impossible, Doc does it anyway cause YOLO.
Doc's adventures consist of him trying to master Japanese while overcoming obstacles like annoying anime nerds that like to flex their 10 words, Japanese sellers refusing to sell to outsiders, piss poor learning tools, and the evil that is translation and romanization.
Language Lackquisition functions as both a progress log of my own personal experience with Japanese as well as a commentary of language learning communities.
