Hundreds of miles into the Grey Forest, there’s a hidden society of elven individuals, who live in a heavily (polytheistic) religious society. Everyone has to achieve peak perfection to “please the gods,” and those who fail, don’t last very long.

The protagonist, Lauren, becomes fond of the idea of the outside world, and runs away with her girlfriend, Rebecca. However, her homophobic mother may begin following her around in hopes of bringing her back home.
