“Mr. Mathew, I have your coffee and some files,” Mercer exclaims as he walked into Lorenzo’s office, holding his usual black roast with a dash of oat milk and files from William Mathew, Lorenzo’s father.
“Oh thank you,” Lorenzo chuckled as he glanced up from his computer.
“They are from your father. He wanted you to look over this month’s winter attire line.”
“Alright, I’ll take a look when I have some free time, for now you can just sit them down and take your break,” Lorenzo went back to his computer where he worked on sale files for his father’s company, which was a clothing and accessory brand.
Lorenzo had worked for his father since he could drive, helping with clothing modeling, color picking, and design ideas. Now he did sales for his father, rather than hands on with the products. It had always been him and his father growing up. His mother died during childbirth and his father was too busy growing his company to find a new lover. When Lorenzo was 14, his father hired a new female assistant but she was fired rather quickly due to a certain incident that Lorenzo nor his father ever spoke of again. This incident left Lorenzo in therapy and left with haphephobia, a fear of touch, specifically around women and older people. Though this phobia never triggered when he was around Mercer, his newly hired assistant. Maybe it was because he was male and younger or because Lorenzo was quite fond of his appearance and personality.
Mercer was kind, respectful, and well held, close to Lorenzo’s personality just a bit more kinder and cuter. Mercer grew up in a poor household with a low income along with his three younger sisters, and being the oldest he went through a lot and understood their situation more than his sisters. Yes his parents were in the picture but they worked a lo o afford life, leaving Mercer to often take care of his sisters and himself. Once he graduated he moved away to the city and soon got a job as Lorenzo’s assistant. Even though he left his family, he still sent money and love to support them. His parents were very appreciative of him, knowing their son got out of their small shitty town and left to live a better life.
“Mercer,” Lorenzo spoke up, causing Mercer to jolt. “Will you take these back to my father and tell him the line is amazing and perfect for the cold weather?”
“Yes Mr. Mathew,” Mercer took the files and scurried out of the office.
Lorenzo chuckled to himself as he watched the smaller man run out. “He sure is efficient… and cute. I wonder?” Lorenzo sighed. “Does he ever get tired of this? I know I would.”
He shook his head, knocking out any negative thoughts and went back to working.
