“Congratulations! Out of thousands of candidates, you all are the only ones who survived and pass all the tests. You all travel far to reach here and now...I want to welcome you to..The Walfore Academy!”
Bliss stares at the golden gates that are slowly opening, revealing the majestic campus buildings; tears welled up in her eyes ready to streams down her puffy cheeks. She blink rapidly, biting her lips, her hands balled up into a fist; unable to contain the drumming excitement of her heart.
She cannot believe she had reach this far, just weeks ago, she is still that small town girl and now she is beginning a new chapter in her life.
Bliss cannot imagine how it would be like if she doesn’t have the courage to take that leap of faith. The arena is filled with thunderous applause and roaring cries as the new batch of Walfore students enters the gates into the campus.
Bliss looks up into the sky, a smile formed on her face.
She remembered the sun is shining bright just like this day when she received that news.

Hanging high on the sky, the ball of light is not shy to radiate its rays of sunshine.
Beads of sweat drips down the delivery man face as he carries stacks of newspapers and magazines into a store, arrays of fresh produce can be seen from the squeaky clean display window and ‘Brooklyn’s Convenience Store’ is painted gold on the sign in swirly fonts.
The bell rang as the door is being pushed open, when the delivery man give himself a stretch after dropping off the stacks, he is greeted by a blonde’s warm smile and a glass of cold lemonade.
“Heya, Bliss. How are ya old Smith?”
“Good day, uncle Gilbert. Thank you for your hard work.” Bliss said, handing the glass of fresh juice to Gilbert.
Gilbert gulps down the whole glass of lemonade with a loud sigh and wipe his mouth.
Bliss take the empty glass to the back, “Grandpa is doing great, he just…”
“Ah! Gilbert my good man.”
Both Bliss and Gilbert looks towards the spiral stairs and saw a grey haired man with tiny round glasses, a thick hardcover book in hand. His eyes brighten as he saw his good friend in the store, excited he took big steps down. A groan could be heard before Bliss let out a cry.
“Grandpa!” Both hands are lifted up, her eyes fixed on Smith.
Gilbert let out a sigh as he rushes to took a wooden chair placing it near Smith.
“Thank the gods that we have Bliss here with her magic powers.”
Smith float in mid-air along with his book, Bliss slowly lower her hands and gently set Smith down on the chair, rushing towards Smith side. She worriedly checking to see if he is really okay.
Unlike the worried duo, Smith laughs and stands up, swatting away Bliss’s hands.
“Stop worrying so much, your grandpa here is a strong man. Look here, I was awarded with these medals by his majesty himself. I still remember the day when…” He said, pointing towards the framed medals on the wall.
“Yeah yeah, but now you’re just an old man watching over this store with me. Now, put these up on the racks will you.”
“Grandma! Let me.” Bliss said, taking the newspapers from Pam.
Gilbert helps Bliss with the magazines and newspapers before he left the store, Bliss looks back at the bickering couple with a soft smile before she walks Gilbert out.
“Thank ya, Bliss.” Gilbert was half-way up his van when he jumps down, rushing back towards Bliss with something in his hands. “This, Walfore academy..is opening submission. Uncle Gilbert knows you always wanted to go there right? Why don’t you give it a chance?”
Bliss blinks in surprise, Gilbert pushes the brown paper into Bliss hands. Bliss blindly waves goodbye as Gilbert drove away.
Bliss stared at the paper in her hands, Walfore academy...that’s at the capital… She shakes her head, as if she can shake away those thoughts.
She looks back at the store, from the glass window; she can see her grandparents, her grandma laughing hard at something her grandpa just said. A gentle smile blooms on her flawless feature, she takes a quick look at the paper in her hand and stuff it in the pocket of her lace apron.
Leaving her grandparents behind and head for the capital? Can she really do that?
She thought, she had her hands over the pocket. But, it is my dream to join the academy and become Magix Knight. But, leaving grandma and grandpa…
“Bliss, come in and help me with these boxes.” Pam call out to Bliss, who is in a trance.
Bliss snaps back from her trance, “Ah...Coming.” She said, taking one last look at the paper in her pocket; shaking her head, she went in the store.

The sun begins to set; shades of orange and yellow paints the small town filled with daisies, Daisyfield town folks start to go home after a long day.
Bliss puts down the broom, taking off her apron and hangs it on the rack. Switching off all the lights in the store, Bliss walks up the stairs, telling her grandpa that she’s going to help her grandma with dinner.
Smith nods, sitting on his rocking chair with the reading light and a book in his hands. After a while, he sets down his book; getting up ready to go upstairs to their home to have dinner. The night breeze picks up, making Smith shudder. He sighed and slowly walking over to the store window.
“This Bliss, forget to shut the window again.” He said, shutting the window and locking it afterwards.
The corner of his eyes caught on something brown near the clothing rack, the brown is just a little lighter than the brown of the wooden floor. Smith picks it up, smoothing the crease on the paper. His eyes widen upon the words on the paper.
“Walfore magic academy...admission?” He muttered, looking at the direction of the staircase leading up to his home.
He took out the locket he kept near his heart, taking a look at the photo inside the locket, his lips curled up into a small smile.
“Grandpa, dinner is ready.” Bliss came down the stairs, she stop at her tracks when she saw what her grandpa is holding.
“This…” Smith holds up the paper.
Nervousness flashes through Bliss’s eyes; she rushes forward, snatching the paper from Smith’s hand. Shocked, Smith stared at Bliss. Bliss had always been well-mannered and gentle, she never did something like this before. Bliss realize what she did and instantly apologize.
“Sorry, grandpa. This…” She signals to the paper in her hands, “This is nothing…” Then, she stuffed it in her pocket. Smith is about to open his mouth when Pam interrupted him.
“What are you two doing?"
