Have you ever wondered where NPCs come from? Or where they go after they've been slaughtered or finished dolling out the latest seemingly random quest for 35 wolf pelts?

It turns out they have their own lives in a nexus world that connects all others. And they don't just hop through World Gates to be killed on repeat for nothing... The Heroic Energy generated by Heroes is necessary to keep their home from ripping itself apart.

Hex never thought he'd cross into other worlds or battle Heroes. He's only a slime after all. But when his life is uprooted, he finds himself at the famed Academy where Monsters and Humanoids alike learn the skills to become World Gate travelers.

He quickly begins to realize that there's something different about himself, and there's something broken in the System that controls the worlds beyond the Gates.

And he's going to figure out what.

NPC Academy is a fantasy novel with progression, litRPG, and portal elements, plus the occasional peek into slice of life. I always say it's like ‘Wreck It Ralph’ (as a central hub with portals to many other worlds) crossed with magic school in a classic fantasy setting. It will be a slow burn that starts out with a naive MC and a very narrow focus that expands greatly as the story progresses. LitRPG elements will come into play several chapters in, once the MC reaches the Academy and begins traveling to other worlds.
