Yeebelr... a very strange name. A name that no one is likely to hear, or enjoy. It sounds like your saying a word in a silly voice and twisting and turning the word. No other boy in the world has the name Yeebelr, for I am the only one. My name is Yeebelr Florendo and I am twelve years old. I go to Rockhart Middle school and I live with my parents. For some reason, I call them flower and stem. All of the other boys and girls call their parents mom and dad, or mamma and poppa, or mommy and daddy, and so on. But not me. My mother is flower and my father is stem, and thanks to them, my life has changed.
It all started when I came to school that morning, the gentle breeze blowing across my face, and drying out my blue eyes, and my chestnut hair flipping and flapping like a flag in the wind. It was the last day of school, and just one more day to suffer through.
Maybe Wyatt won't bother me today... I think to myself, as I take in the warm spring air. I walk into the doors of my school and look at the intimidatingly large lobby. I am surrounded by a crowd of fellow sixth-graders. But then I heard the sudden, thumping footsteps of who I dreaded.
"Hey!! Squat!"
I looked behind in shock. There, standing before me was the buzz-cut-haired, tall, fat, beady-eyed, evil Wyatt Sunson, grinning a grin that I could only see in my nightmares. My short, skinny body was no match for him.
"Hey, SQUAT!!!" He mocked again. I stared at him in shock.
"Ohhhhhhhh YEEBELR!!!!!!" He squealed, half laughing.
Coming to my senses, I got up and sprinted away from Wyatt through the crowd. But suddenly, he grabbed me from behind, covering my mouth so I couldn't scream. I kicked and wriggled, but it was no use. There was no getting out of it. But suddenly, it hit me. I opened my mouth, my teeth sliding across Wyatt's arm. I opened my mouth wider, like a lion about to eat its prey. Then, in a flash, I slammed my teeth together and they caught on Wyatt's skin. I had bitten him.
Wyatt screamed in pain, and I wriggled free before too much attention was caused. I ran down the hallway into the sixth-grade area. I sloppily twisted my combination into my locker, climbed inside, and hid. My heart drummed in my chest. A sinking feeling was in my stomach. Would Wyatt seriously injure me for biting him? Would I be EXPELLED for biting him???? I didn't even think, I just chomped!
"And this is why your part psychopath," I whisper to myself. Because of my "do it without thinking nature", I always had a feeling I was part psychopath, but I know its not true. Kids make mistakes, and that's what kids do. But that didn't stop me from curling up in my locker and hiding. Suddenly, I heard a knock on the locker door. I curled into a ball as my heart pounded in my chest.
"Yeebelr?" A gentle voice said. I sighed with relief as I opened my locker door. A girl stood there with two black braids in her hair, brown eyes and in a pink, sleeveless woolly dress. It was Orleans, smiling at me with a charming grin. We relate because she has a strange name too, named after a city in Louisiana, without the "New".
"Don't worry," Orleans remarked in a cheerful manner. "He's gone now. No one noticed you've bitten him."
"How did you see?"
"I see everything, Yeebelr."
I was creeped out and comforted at the same time. "Right..."
"Come on, let's get to class."
Orleans ushered me to the classroom. We sat down next to each other, and the bell rang.
