Drip. drip. Drip. The sound of water’s so loud… but it sounds like water dripping into a sink.
I don’t like this feeling.
It’s dark. I can’t see anything, but it looks like there’s a light at my feet. I can’t move my head either. I feel like something’s there with me, but I still can’t see it. I feel a small chill run down my back. The kind that you get when you're nervous… or maybe that’s just me.
I try to call out. My mouth opens, but no sound comes out. I feel something in my throat. Not solid, not liquid, but just… something. I don’t like it. I don’t like it. It feels like it should hurt, but there’s nothing there. I feel tears start to prick the corners of my eyes and I don’t know why. I close my mouth. The feeling stops.
I can’t speak… maybe this is a dream. I decide to let things happen. Like how I normally do. My feet carry me forward. I have no control. This is normal.
I feel something on my shoulder. I feel a hand on my shoulder.
THIS IS WRONG. I SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FEEL. THIS IS NOT A DREAM.
I am frozen with fear. Pins and needles run down my spine. I am scared. I don’t know where I am. Where am I? My breathing is so shallow I can’t feel it. I can hear my heartbeat. I feel it against my temples. It hurts. I’m scared. Where am I?
Tears are at the corners of my eyes.
Someone wakes up with a gasp. They wake up in the dark. They woke up from a nightmare. They are confused. They look like me. But that can’t be… I’m watching them…. This must be a dream.
This must be a dream.
This must be a dream.
This must be a dream.
This must be a dream. This must be a dream. This must be a dream. This mustbe a dream. Thismust be a dream. Thismustbeadreamthismustbeadreamthismustbeadreamthismustbeadreamthismustbeadreamthismustbeadreamthismustbeadreamthismustbeadream….
It has to be.
